What Price Are you being quoted by the Dealer?

    For those with a deposit down or on a list, what prices have you been quoted or that you have agreed to with the dealer? Anyone under MSRP or over MSRP? Also, any guesses on how far MSRP is over invoice for Prius II or Prius III?

    MSRP and destination fee. So for the package 4 I want with sunroof it is a total of $30,150 for the car that is preferenced to me in Oregon. $25,800 plus the sunroof option. Words from email I got from dealer:
    factory MSRP is going to be $30,150.00 (including the factory's delivery, handling and processing fee).

    No sales tax here :D

    From what I've been reading and what I was told, it pretty much seems like MSRP is it for the 2010's at this point, without add-ons, etc.

    That stinks if that holds true for So Cal... I was told MSRP plus the $750 delivery. I hope this doesn't change when I get on the lot. The dealer I am using said they won't be asking over MSRP for 2010's. But oddly, they are not really reducing the prices on the 2009 yet per my dealer, they think the $1,000 back is a good deal :) I sure would hate to be the guy who walks onto the lot, gets a 2009 package 2 for 23.5K or 24K only to find out in a month that the 2010 is coming out, etc.
    Thanks Prius Chat!!! If not for Prius Chat I probably would have purchased a 2009 or Insight a couple of months ago. I am very happy that I held out.

    A few years ago a VW dealer tried to get me to pay sticker for a 2008 Jetta for my wife. I laughed and told him I don't pay sticker for anything. A few days later we went to another dealer and got $400 over invoice for a Passat. The 2010 Prius is probably the only car I would pay sticker for within the first few months of release as long they don't try to rape my on my trade. If you want a quick sale give me $500 under sticker and a fair trade value for my car and you sold your first 2010 Prius. Or we can do sticker and you give me $500 worth of free stuff. You call 6 dealers the last sales day of May and you will get close to that offer. DEALERS NEED SALES. I don't care that if the Prius is the hottest car in the world. The sales manager only cares about total number of cars sold. Gas is cheaper right now so hybrids are not in high demand. Now if gas was $3-4 a gallon then we are in trouble.

    Any dealer that isn't discounting the 09's are fools. I currently have over 25 on the lot right now. Ask nicely and you can get a great deal on one right now. Since our allocation of 2010 is based on how many 09's I sold, I would be a fool if I didn't get rid of them as fast as possible.

    As for the 2010 model, my dealership has never sold one for over MSRP, never force added rustproofing, etc, and never will. It isn't ethical. Wait, did a dealer just say something wasn't ethical???

    Like Sluday just said, the best thing with Toyota dealers right now is how they determine the number of cars we get. I would rather sell 50 at $1,500 profit than 25 at 2,000. The more I sell, the more I get. It's that simple. Assuming I can get and maintain the number of vehicles I want/need from Toyota, that won't change. However, I know for a fact that until the Prius is built in the US, demand will always outweigh supply over the course of a year. Just like in Vegas, you may win a few hands, but in general, the house always wins. That is why the pricing will be MSRP on 2010 models. The supply won't come close to the demand in the first 4-6 months.

    Unfortunately, those folks needing it bad will get it bad in price at least initially until fuel prices begin climbing again.

    Well I haven't been given a price since we haven't gotten one released on canada, but contract states $500 below MSRP without any additional markups.

    Even when the Honda Element was hot (the first month it was sold ) and two dealers wanted above list we got a small discount ($400) from a third dealer as we were going to walk. We did give up something, we wanted orange and they only had two black ones in stock.

    The Prius will be hot for a while and most dealers are going to get MSRP for every Prius they have... but in some areas there will be extra cars that go unsold and near the end of the month you might get a discount.

    If you could lock that in you got a great deal. Just hope they don't try to add weatherproofing, gold pin stripes, wheel locks, scotch guard for the seats, and aluminum siding for some profit.:D:D

    well It's locked in and signed, only waiting for final pricing to be released so the actual order can be placed but was guarenteed one from the first shipment they recieve. They are trying to push a extended warrenty but not really interested, though curious if the one offered through priuschat is valid in canada and not just the states.

    that guy was almost me :), I put a deposit last week for a 2009 pkg2 at 22.5 at 0% fin 36 months, and I was like , this is an awesome deal, I was plannign to finalize the deal this morning, but then, the press release came out earlier this week, and I was shocked, I immediately instructed my dealership to transfer my deposit towards a 2010 pkg 2 or to give me a further discount of 2K for the 2009. They didn't budge, so I transfered the deposit toward the 2010.:D

    I was thinking that exact same thing!!! If people didn't know about priuschat or do their research before they buy...they'd be spending more for the older model!! I think the dealers are counting on that and it is why they aren't budging yet. THANK YOU PRIUS CHAT!!:D

    Right Toyota (Scottsdale, AZ) wants MSRP plus $199+ (window tinting) and $499 (alarm system).

    Although I have my Sequoia serviced there, I've always found there sales side of the house very arrogant. Obviously, I'm not going to purchase there overpriced add-on crap. I'll also have my vehicles serviced elsewhere as well.

    dbacksfan, I'm going w/ Avondale Toyota for the lower sales tax rate (7.8%). I believe their tint is a bit more though, but I'd hope it's optional. I've seen some of their cars stock and at a lower price than MSRP, and others lower than MSRP, but with several high margin add-ons. They claim to be a no-hagle dealer though w/ fixed pricing. I've yet to see a quote from them on the 2010's though.

    Is Right forcing the tint and alarm?

    HTMLSpinner, yes, according to their Internet Manager they are. When I responded that I'd like to find another store that didn't require those add-ons, he responded "That's a good idea!" and hung up. It's not the first time that I've encountered such arrogance at that store.

    I'm afraid in Harford County, Maryland it is MSRP. The sales manager practically promised his first-born son if it costs more, but I don't believe my dealership has the honest approach that JABBER has. Actually I know I'm going to get screwed because it is "sticker price", not MSRP and somehow that will cost me, I'm sure.
    My problem is that I need a new car and am really just hoping my existing ECHO with 154,000 miles lasts until the 2nd or 3rd allocation (hopefully late June).
