My MFD has been acting up, showing the internmittant freezing, radio shutting off, etc. that has been discussed elsewhere. Howver, yesterday, I discoverd a hidden benefit of this problem, when I reached work.

The attached image number 45 shows the display as I reached the parking lot at work. I could now fantasize that I achieved 100 mpg for the trip!

The second image number 46 is the reality displayed as I left that evening. When I got home, the display was still functioning, showing 53.1 MPG for the round trip.

I do have the platinum extended warantee, and 85 thousand miles on the care, so I assume I can get the display repaired.

This sounds like the classic MFD broken solder connection problem. Your dealer should put in a refurbished MFD under the extended warranty as described in the TSB on this subject.

My original MFD is still working fine at 146,00 miles(fingers all crossed).
