And me being a Buffalo Springfield guy...

    Growing up...

The aforementioned groups as well as Pink Floyd and several others... made me the thinking person I am...

    Rush--dramatically.
    Queen--sheer talent
Elvis in my early youth spurred an interest in music.
Recently Traffic, Tragically Hip, Deep Purple have renewed an interest in innovative music.
Floyd--more their popular stuff, but I'm amazed at their body of work.

Quiz show Wink Martindale? A rocker or crooner?

Jimmy Dean? Yes, I know before he made sausages, he sang "Big Bad John" -- a good one! ;)

I was lucky to be going to college in the late sixties near San Francisco. Usually the weekends were spent dwn in the Haight-Ashbury district and at least one concert at Bill Graham's (not the Evangelist) Filmore West at the old Avalon Ballroom. I got to see almost everyone except Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin) and Jimmy Hendrix because we couldn't get tickets. Either you passed out waiting in line or passed out inside. I really enjoyed Country Joe and the Fish.
Yes, those were the days. My vehicle was a '66 Ford Econoline Van without windows, complete with carpet, bed, madras drapes. Why not the VW van? No power negoriating the hills od SF. Yep, don't come a knocking when you see my van a rockin'

Being a Radio/TV Major in College, and Music Director at the Campus Radio Station really helped my friends and I expand our musical taste. We could buy all the albums we wanted thru Billboard Top 100 Music Service. $1.65 a album.

In 40 years have I have acquired over 1000 albums!!!

It's surprising how much of 'my old music' my teenage daughters have adopted. Mostly Beatles, Neil Young, and REM - neither of them are too keen on Stones, Floyd, or Bowie, which is about all I listened to for years. There was some Cat Stevens, reggae, Dire Straits, and U2 in there as well. We've 'traded' in a way, and now I enjoy some 'younger' stuff like Cat Power, Moby, and even some rap, though I didn't get that from them. Poor Mom grew up on classical and can't stand about 95% of "the kid's" taste in music.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned "William Shatner" singing, and I use the term loosely, MacArthur Park??????
