Looks like the neighbors have kicked her out. Except now she's being driven completely crazy by fleas, she rubs against my legs but shies away if my hands go near her. She's afraid of me now because of the Sargents Flea Liquid adventure. She was all cuddles with another neighbor earlier.

She's sitting in my kitten chewing herself to bits. She's meowing like mad. Nobody sells a decent flea remedy after 10:00 at night around here! All the grocery stores sell the killer Sargent brand.

I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. After that I own her. In time she'll trust me again. Dammit, now I have a damaged kitty.

Oh, now she's puking. Or hairballing in the hallway.

She'll be pissed about the vets, no doubt, but after that give her some nice treats and maybe some hallucinogens (catnip) and she will get over it. Poor thing.

She's in the litter box!! Polite little girl.

I laid down on the kitchen floor and she came over and sat beside me but runs when she see's my hands.

    Bunny, I'm a sucker for a kitty.

Oh my, that's a lot of puke from such a tiny cat.

    So, The Cat Came Back

A very cute cartoon courtesy of the Canadian taxpayer. Seriously, it was made by the National Film Board of Canada

Not only did the Sargent cause the poor cat skin damage, it apparently didn't work either. Fleas galore?

The vet will probably do a flea dip right in the clinic, rinse out the ears with stuff to kill the ear mites, treat kitty for worms, and send you on your merry way

Hopefully in time kitty will come to love you again. It probably associates you with the Sargent skin horror - make sure you mention that episode to the vet

What else ... if it pukes up a worm about 2-5 inches long, it has roundworms swirling around in its guts. The Pfizer product Revolution (Selamectin) will easily handle that, along with hookworms, heartworms, fleas, ticks, and earmites

    http://www.revolution4cats.com/

If you see little grains of white rice on its anus, they are *not* rice. Remember that scene from Flushed Away? Except they got it all wrong, they're not maggots either, but tapeworm segments.

The Bayer product Drontal (Praziquantel, pyrantel embonate) easily takes care of tapeworms.

    Bayer Animal Health: Our Products[showUid]=1&cHash=6d7c1406a0

I just *love* the brutal way Drontal kills off the wormey. A similar concoction is used on humans to treat cestodes in the gut, but it causes violent cramping and explosive, bloody diahrea (Next time I may take my chances with the worm)

    What else?

Patience, love, a scratching post (Several in fact), catnip, etc

Revolution works well with our critters. Your new kitty will forgive you for the Sargents. But, as you now know, that stuff is not the best quality. Sort of like feeding Ol'Roy dog food to your dog (don't, its one of the worst dog foods available).

Ole Roy dog food may be ok for hillbillies, but I'm convinced the Geneva Convention should ban it

I think you might have to buy Kitty some jewelry as well.

My cat bit my nose this morning to wake me up. Just thought I'd toss that in. It definitely worked.

My cats will just wrap themselves around my head or neck to wake me up. Surprisingly effective wakeup when you have a mouth full of cat fur

Leonardo always used his litter box to pee and to crap. But he insisted on puking hairballs on the carpet. I'd see him retching, about to puke, and I'd grab him and set him on the wood floor (so much easier to clean!) and he'd dash back to the carpet to puke. I also tried putting him in his litterbox to puke, but he'd jump out and race to the nearest carpet.

All soon as I said 'Sargents' the vet cut me off and said

"That stuff kills cats....can you believe they can sell it........If you put it on Sunday and she's still alive she should be okay we'll shampoo where you put it but she's too stressed for a full bath....she's fiesty"

She's underweight at 8.4 pounds so she's on high calorie food. From the way she's been packing that away I'm thinking she'll be on a diet when she goes for her free follow-up in 2 weeks. Vet wants her over 9 lbs before she'll give her a full dose of her flea meds. No ear problems, blood work was all good, no worms, she was previously spayed. And she's estimated at 5 years old. No FIV, no lukemia, no heartworms.

She's emotionally scarred from all the excitement but getting better, her posture is better now.

I'm under strict orders. Try to get her to eat 2 can's of FancyFeast a day. Chicken or turkey only, no gravy based food, no fish of any type. Clay unscented kitty litter that isn't clumpable and dump it 2x a day. AND NEVER, EVER let her outside.

Breed confirmed as a 'Ragdoll' and a perfect example of the breed.

Yeah, she's recovering she just jumped up on the computer desk.

She' still more independant, didn't want to be touched when she jumped up but the vet assures me she'll get over the Sargent's ofense and forget about the outdoors withing 30 days. She thinks she's fiesty now because of her time outdoors and she'll get over it. I wouldn't call her fiesty at all.

She also said I should get an ownership release from the neighbors but then said, 'Nevermind, in Florida once you pay the vet bill you own her. Just get her vacination records and the name of her vet'. She's not chipped, yet.

SHe's still doing a little biting and a lot of cleaning. Vet may have forgotten to get me the topical so she doesn't pick up the fleas she probably left in the house.

    And you're complaining?! :p
Some people say they're not as attractive, but there's definitely something to be said for the hairless variety. :tape2:

Leonardo would either purr in my ear (which tickles, in a nice way) or stick his paw between my head and the pillow (to see if there's anything interesting there?)

Yeah, I knew the vet would react like that. I'm sure in the teeny Lawyer print, the Sargents claims "Warning: use of this product will probably kill your cat, so TFB you're SOL so KMA"

    Very good news

Lot's of patience, use a very soft voice, etc

I like your vet, very fiesty

Well, there is actually a natural way to minimize fleas. There is a nematode - a small roundworm - that will *eat* flea larvae. I know it sounds counter-productive to introduce a nematode to your house, but apparently the little buggers work well

Try to find a good pet food specialty store. Some garden centers also carry this nematode
