Went to the new Toyota '10 page and then over to "build your own." Entered my zip code (in the SE region, Florida) and guess what? They are still "building" 09's over there.

OK, then went back and entered an eastern zip (Baltimore) and found the "build" page up and running for '10 models. Nice. But something peculiar. For the Prius III I'll be purchasing they blanked out some selections: to select the solar roof I had to go to Prius IV. And, neither III or IV had available the Blizzard Pearl color I want.

Is this an indication of option availability on cars currently in the pipeline??

many have reported the same issue and part of it i think has to do with a large inventory of 09's left along with the fact that we are more than a month away from any 2010s

No, as has been widely reported here, each region selects which vehicles will be distributed, and therefore available on the website configurator for their region. If you are unable to locate a specific build that you are seeking, you are able to ask your dealer to help you locate one from a different region, or simply contact a dealer from that region and inquire about local pickup.

Today I went into the build page and entered my usual zip -- it came up with the 2009 Prius heading. But it was definitely for a 2010. I have gone to the build page before and it did say 2010. So there's a glitch somewhere.

The site is very buggy so it isn't clear whether an option isn't available or it's just not working right. For instance, the price does not update when I select a different trim level. It only updates at the end, when they add everything together, or if one leaves the page and comes back in. I also have not been able to choose a solar roof with level III.

Another question, for level III and up, it says on the "compare" chart that the audio system comes with a 6-CD changer. However, in other descriptions (not on the "build" site), it says 4-CD changer. Which is it?

4-Changer, plus 1 (The plus one is for the DVD Navigation only, and not for Audio). Not all regions have debugged their applications, which is why you are still seeing many issues with it. By the time the cars are actually available, these will likely be resolved.

It could be either one. The 6-CD changer is the premium sound system. The 4-CD changer is the premium sound system that comes with the Nav system (they take up two slots for the Nav system's DVD player).

Okay, I get it now. Was wondering why you would get a 6-CD changer if you get a Prius III but would lose two CD slots if you pay for the nav package!

They have to make room for the NAV unit's DVD-ROM drive as well as NAV electronics. It's a different manufacturer as well (Panasonic does 6 disc, Denso does the NAV + 4 disc).

I also noticed that if you select Prius V you can't deselect the technologoy package. I wonder if this means that in my area I can only get a Prius V with the package? I really did not want nav.
