So despite the Toyota packages offered, I won't take "no" for an answer! :)

So my question is, will it be possible to get the Prius Package IV with sunroof option and add aftermarket 17" wheels and LED headlights/foglights that would be close to the package V options?

Would the cost make it not worth it? Would it really effect the MPG much?

I don't think getting LED headlamps is going to be cheap. The install also may not be easy because of the leveling system.

The wheels I am sure people will do...

I think nearly anything would be possible, though I shudder to think of the cost of adding the LED lights with the self-leveling feature. The LEDs also come with a washer/cleaner system, and I don't know what electrical and/or "plumbing" issues are involved with that.

Really, I think you just have to decide between the Solar Roof Package and the LEDs. Of course, it is quite possible there are OTHER LED headlights available in the aftermarket world. That's a question best put to Darell (darelldd).

The 17" wheels is another story. You certainly can add them to the Prius IV. The Prius V has a different setup for steering, though I don't know if the IV can be modified in a like manner. I think the brakes and suspension are all the same, so I don't know that it would become a safety issue -- ask a reputable mechanic and tire dealer.

MPG hit? Absolutely. Toyota's Chief engineer expected a 3 MPG hit just from the 17" wheels. The tires alone weigh 22 lbs apiece, and I can't see how those 17" wheels wouldn't be a WHOLE lot heavier than the 15" ones.

Is it worth it? I don't think there is an economic justification, if that's your inquiry. Again, if we were to go that route in every discussion, we'd all be lining up for the '04 Civic with 80,000 miles on it.
