Haha, I think we'd agree that patience is a virtue neither one of us has. I told myself I would accept the west coast would yet again get their vehicles before us but when the time came that they got em' first, like with the 2006's, I just wouldn't take the wait any longer! :p Lol

So sorry I'm not sure if this has been covered...have the cars from the 5/27 ship been allocated as well? Can someone point me to a post that describes the process?

Oh yes, they have been allocated.. a long time ago.

Here is how an allocation works (BRIEF description, there is actually a lot more to it behind the scenes):
    1) Toyota builds a bunch of cars.
    2) At the same time, dealers are sending their preferences to the region. This would be ordered cars.
    3) Toyota tells region A they have a total of 850 cars.
    4) Region A then determines how many of each model each dealership will get (based on prior sales). This amount is our allocation.
    5) Cars are built by Toyota, hands the list of built cars to the region, and regions are splitting up the vehicles based on preference and allocation. These aren't necessarily the same amount. If I have 20 sold orders, but I am only allocated 3 prius, I only fill 3 orders. (Not quite how it is working right now due to the newness of the car, but for conversation sake we'll look at it this way)
    6) Dealer gets the car.

The whole allocation thing can happen before the cars are built, as the cars are being built, as they are being put on a ship, or actually coming across the ocean.

Again, this is only a brief synopsis of how it all works. The region is more involved with what comes in on a monthly basis. So it is really a two way conversation between each region and Toyota.

Thanks for the detailed info and now to the meat of my question for you. I am seeking a black 2010 Prius V with ATP and have time to wait. Can a dealer put in a request to have this car built?

I just ran a check on the Kentucky Highway. It has finally cleared the canal and is now on it's way. Hopefully it will make good time once it's underway at sea.
For it to be on time May 29th it has only 8 days to go.

My dealer here in Northern VA said my car will arrive at Newark on the 29th - so I'm betting on Kentucky Highway as well.

I'm with ya Fred - this is a cruel cruel process. The torture is in coming back to PC every day to get all amped up. Stange form of self-torture. Went for a ride in my neighbor's new Rav last night - just the new-car smell made me nuts! :frusty:

Hey what site are you using to track Kentucky Highway?

It does not show up on either vesseltracker.com or marinetraffic.com as of right now.

It won't show up while on the high seas apparantly. I got it last night when it was about 25 miles out to sea. It won't show up again until it's near a port. My guess is Florida before we see it again. I just hope it's on time for May 29th.
    I am using Vesseltracker.

Looks like Kentucky Highway is on the move again heading North away from it's dock in Jacksonville! It's itinerary has not been updated yet but it should be on its way to Newark, NJ.:)

My wife and I have been watching it's slow march to the Atlantic for a while now. I called my dealer who had no idea the ship was even in the US. So far no update. He says he won't get an update until the Ship reaches the Port in NJ.
5 miles to go until it's out to sea again. I hope it can make the May 29th date.
Hopefully they will get up to cruising speed fairly quickly. :D

Kentucky Highway is now somewhere at sea but it doesn't show up on any tracking sites as of yet. Hopefully it will be on time to dock at the port on May 29th!
