I guess I'm a bit confused the previous vet left behind something? Any reason for that? The older cat, BooBoo, had already been fixed by the animal shelter when my folks adopted him

The stray kitten I found, Doc, I took in the very next day to be fixed. I made it clear - in no uncertain terms - the frisky orange kitten was to have no reproductive parts left at all.

Over two years now, and no hint whatsoever of anything weird going on

I have heard that with dogs, if you wait too long to get them fixed, they still retain the behavior, even though nothing happens. I wonder if with your cat, they waited until she had already gone into heat a few times

Here's an article about it that explains the situation. It's complicated.

7b. Ovarian remnants (incomplete feline spay) - the cat comes back into heat after spaying.
Occasionally, a cat who has been spayed will come back into season (heat) weeks to months (even up to 5 years later) after it has been desexed. This is, naturally, very perplexing and annoying for the owner (part of the reason why people get female cats desexed is to prevent them from displaying the more annoying signs of cat heat like calling and roaming) and often owners will question whether or not the surgery has been performed at all.

Well, the good news is, despite the in-heat symptoms, the cat probably has been desexed successfully and so can not fall pregnant (unless some major record-keeping mistake has been made and the cat is thought to have been spayed when it wasn't ...). The bad news is that the cat has probably had some of its ovarian tissue (a portion of ovary or ovarian-type tissue) left behind and the remaining ovarian follicles (called ovarian remnants......

I think you need to find a kitty gigolo.

Having seen 'soft paws' I wouldn't be surprised if there are kitty condums. But I'm definitely not putting that on a cat.

I'm going to Petsmart to see if they have kitty electric "massagers".

too much information. Face it, a pussy in heat is every bit as obnoxious as an ordinary male on the prowl. Since your pet is acting like a male 'pig' is it possible you have a piggy pussy?

After I picked myself up off the floor, I realized there was just no way to offer a comeback to John, without being banned forever

John, you *did* give me some material to use. Hehehehehehe

Typing *very* carefully to avoid any ... um .... loaded and/or mixed messages

Cats overall like things like electric blankets, electric pads, and various ... um ... vibrators. Anything that feels ... um ... good to us, will feel good to a cat

I think I better stop right here

I found a related video that would probably get me banned from PC if I posted the direct link. :D

Hmmmm. I just tried a little science experiment. I set my BlackBerry Bold to vibrate-only. I put the phone next to the two cats, who promptly started sniffing it in a curious manner

I then went to the nearest extension in my house, and dialed my BlackBerry. Once it started to buzz, here is what happened:

The older and wiser cat, BooBoo, immediately jumped up, hissed, and all the hair on his back stood up. He swatted at the BlackBerry.

The younger cat, Doc, ran under the couch and now refuses to come back out.

No offense Dave, but something is seriously wrong with your cat

Now, now, it's a documented medical condition.

"Very rarely, some spayed cats can even exhibit a centrally-mediated (brain mediated) persistence of estrus signs and nymphomania."

That's why I heard her new call "MEEEEOWWWwww...hey sailor".

Ok, first of all, the cat will soon be out of heat and will return to a more normal behavior

Second, it's quite possible this will allow her to forget the entire debacle of you force-feeding pills to her.

It's entirely possible once she passes out of heat, she will retain the cuddly/friendly personality

I think she's cooling down now. She wa cuddly and cute before she went into heat. Since she's been in heat she's been unbelievable.

I think I was forgiven for the pills a while back andd now I'm her bestest buddy.

She'll love having a little friend cat to play around with----Cats always like having other cats around (they eventually like them). And it will take some of her preoccupation away from you, hopefully. Although, don't worry, she'll always love you in that "special" way.
