Plus, if you buy a Honda, you don't have to go through a middle man, like Gulf States Toyota, that load up cars with expensive rip off extras that make the price of the cars even more expensive. Hondas are sold at the same price no matter where you live in the US.

You can avoid that anyway by buying out of state while on vacation...that's what I did when I lived in Texas. ;) Had my VIN and deal all worked out before I left the state.

Not really. A single blip like that in an economy this far down can easily be influenced by the rush of first adopters combined with pent up demand. Not really any different than folks rushing to buy movie tickets or the latest OS.

I think the price of the product might make acting on herd impulse more prohibitory. Or it may not, who knows, I'm not a economic/ marketing sociologist.

well i think competition is good and many have said this and i will repeat, i much rather see one get a HIH than a 30 mpg gas guzzler. and if knocking a few grand off the price will do it. all power to Honda. there is more than enough hybrid market out there support a half dozen more options

    Hi guys

Yahoo Japan is saying that the Prius was Japan's top selling car in May. It estimates the sales figure at over 10,000 and says that will outdo the Insight which is thought to have sold 9,000. Both cars (hybrids) should be in the Top 3.

    ????????????????????????????? - Yahoo!????

In another report, sales of the Prius to May 31 are given as over 130,000. Not bad for two weeks on sale! It includes the 80,000 pre-ordered, of course. Again, I think the big discrepency with the first article is due to the first article relating to cars delivered, not cars ordered.

Not bad that the Prius topped the Insight's record in only two weeks of sales for the month. The Insight fell back to 3rd this past month. It's nice to have some choices, but as I've said before, the Insight is targeting a different demographic (less need for a family sedan.)
