    Hi all,

Newbie here wanting to buy a 2009 soon! Wanted to see if somebody had any good tips on getting a good deal out there. I know the 2010 are starting to roll in and that dealers are more than likely wanting to get rid of their older stock...am I right?

If I get to be picky, I'm looking to get a Magnetic Grey Prius with Package 3, at least.

Any help is appreciated. I'm in Brooklyn, NY and am willing to travel to get it.

    Thanks in advance.

Pictureman, I'm having a very hard time negotiating with my local dealer for a 09 or 10. He's just finished quoting me a price of $22, 357 AFTER a $400 add on for cruise control. I thought that was a standard piece of equipment. I'm very frustrated because I can't seem to get my hands on this info. At this rate I think I'll just wait for a few months and get a 2010. Good luck!

    Pictureman,

    :welcome:

Welcome to Priuschat. I don't know about in your area but down here in the Southeast there seems to be a lot of 2009's left on dealer lots. Whether or not that translates into "good deals" I don't know.

I do know that the "Build Your Own" section of the Toyota website only until a day or so ago did not even let you build a 2010 because there are so many 09's still here. If you do want to search this area try zip code 28212 for Charlotte and see what comes up.

    Good luck!!!!

Personally, I think I would wait for a 2010 if you can't find a "Great" deal not just a "Good" deal on an 09.

    Happy driving,
    Chris

We are out of business... :(

We had plenty of Prius' at the beginning of May... they're all gone. Toyota aimed its marketing guns at the 2009 Prius and blew them out of the water with 0% financing.

Now we are flat out and until the 10s arrive. As the largest Prius retailer in our market by a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio when we're out that means that there are none left.

If you find one don't hesitate, grab it.

If the cruise was an addon then it sounds like the dealer has a Package #1 in stock. It also lacks the backup camera and the SKS functionality. I did run into this situation at an SET store in N Carolina. They apparently had several package No 1's in stock.

The good deals are gone because the 09 's are mostly gone by now.
The best deals were $4000 off MSRP couple months ago.

We bought an '09 Touring package 6 today, with a $2,000 manufacturer's rebate and a $2,900 "package discount." It gets delivered tomorrow. Basically, it's about $5,000 less than a similarly-equipped 2010*.

*(I know, apples to oranges, but what can you do?)

IMO, wrong. Liberty Toyota had 5 2009's on the lot the other day when I stopped by for a brochure. Don't know what they are selling for but at the very end of the model year don't expect to find exactly what you want. These cars will probably be gone by the time the 2010 is stocked. BTW they were higher packages as they have fog lights.

My dealer had a couple of loaded 09s on the lot for $27K. Sold them yesterday.

There are still good buys out there for used gen 2s a few years old for mid teens.

I have switched my pricing on the 09's in just the last week. We are now selling them for a minimum of $500 over invoice. I went from having almost 40 to 8 in 3 weeks.
