It's like what Joe Biden said of Rudy Giuliani and 9/11 ... A noun, a verb and 2010.

 

Most Boring Thread 2010, Hey what happened to 2009?

 

In the USA Bev they have this neat marketing trick where the car manufacturers have convinced the general public that you can buy a car from them that is so new it has hit the road before it was made. So that is why cars made in 2009 can be sold as 2010 models. I believe there is a date before which you cant say the car is the next model year.
This fits in well with the 16 fluid ounce pint, the 10 inch foot long hotdog etc.

I like how we do it, the year on the compliance plate is the year.

When I was young (dinosaurs roamed the earth...), the next model year came out in September, I think. Then, it drifted into August.
We saw the 2010 Prius in January. It's for sale now, end of May/beginning of June.
I think other car makers have done the same thing...
I agree, the years on cars make no sense at all.

 

I stripped and washed my bedding today. I'm getting so excited waiting to see if my whites are whiter after using a brand name washing powder.

Adelaide Crows won again this week, that is a Hat Trick!

 

I cut down most of the Kale in the garden yesterday, along with the arugula (Rocket).
It was all as tall as I am, and gone to flowers.
I made dried kale chips last night. Okay, I could eat those until I burst!

 

I bought a new log splitter yesterday. Fiberglass handle. Made in China. Same price as one with a wooden handle. Made in China. I'll see (feel) if the fiberglass handle is any better or worse than my last one. With a wooden handle. Made in New Zealand. Now broken.

 

I am quickly amassing a pile of 'important papers' due to DH's injury.
The doctor said not to expect him to be back to work before 6 months... could be a year.
So many forms! His work has forms for leave... LNI has forms... I imagine that this whole period of time will be nothing but paperwork, interspersed with physical therapy, drugs, doctor visits, perhaps surgery.
*sigh*

 

Agreed, back when Earth was flat, it was a bona-fide news item when ALL the new cars were introduced in the fall. As a 4-year old, I could hardly catch my breath when I caught sight of the '57 Plymouth on view in a dept. store. Those fins & pointy, conical hubcaps! Yikes!

So at least I bought my '08 Prius in Jan., 08.

 

We bought our 2007 Prius in May of 2007. On DH's birthday, no less.

Speaking of DH, and I often do (just ask any of my friends), we were able to drive all the way to Starbucks today for a soy mocha! yay! It was an extra 15 minutes in the car for him (we were out for a doctor's appointment, anyway), and he was really uncomfortable, but he declared it worth it.
It's been eight days now since his back 'blew out'.

I just bought a week or two's worth of day-old crusty breads from my local supermarket.

The day-olds are a lot cheaper: round Kaiser rolls are 15 cents each instead of 42 cents; and heros (elongated bread) are 25 cents each instead of 89 cents.

I end up plastic bagging them and putting them in the refrigerator or freezer. Then I take them out on an as-needed basis and re-crisp the crust in a toaster-oven.

 

My toaster oven is lined with burnt cheese.

 

I don't cook. I do, however, made incredible messes in the kitchen with the juicer, the blender, the food processor, and the dehydrator.

I truly believe that the secret of every successful chef is that they have staff to clean up after them.

 

I've been summoned to report for Federal Court jury duty on July 6.

I'm looking forward to it. Hope I get to serve on a jury. It'd be interesting (I was a practicing attorney for over 20 years), I could use the money (the pay is $40 per day -- that's $10 more in one day than I've earned in the past 2 years), and the meals should be terrific (it's near Chinatown).

 

Maybe it will be a really boring case.

 

I have always wanted to do that. That is not boring, you should start a new thread called Jury Duty. One of the men my husband works with had nearly a year off work when he was on the Jury for the "Bodies in the Barrel" case in Adelaide. I have read all the books that were written about the case. It was horrific. I don't know if I could have sat on that one, but I would like to be given a chance to go on a Jury at some stage.
