Just got my 2010 Prius. Prius IV with solar roof and navi. Came with the Yoko tires. Bummer. Just got back from Firestone and changed to the Bridgestone Ecopia tires. Much better now....

heck we dont do solar for the sun, we do the sunroof for the SUN!!...unlike most of ya that stay out of the sun when it out, we rarely see it so we dont pass up any additional opportunities for our dose of vitamin D!!

other than that...on the AVIDs? what is the significance of the D?

well some have AVID S33D, some just have S33...is this just reading same thing differently or ?

on my tire. if looking at small print next to tire size, it says "S33D" but if looking at the larger print on the outside edge it says "S33"

so are we talking about the same tire.

heck, i should post a pic, but on phone right now with verizon for monthly discussion about the "creative math" they use to compute my cellphone bill.

I belive S33 and S-33D are the same tire. S33 is bigger text, the S-33D is smaller text and more specific.

Has anyone experienced a dealer trying to pass off a Prius IV as a Prius V by switching to 17 inch tires?

I had placed a deposit for a Prius V and the dealer called saying they had matched me to a car. A few days later I called to check the price and was surprised by a rather low figure. Upon further questioning the dealer admitted I was getting a IV. I am wondering if he thought he could switch to 17 inch tires.

Needles to say, bate and switch intentionally or not, does not thrill me and I found another dealer today with a car that meets my desires.

Dealer had 33lb. I filled all up to 43 - saw posts recommending to do so - Is that OK?

I also have Toyo Proxes. The max pressure (per the sidewall) is 51 psi, so anything under that is up to you. FYI--the 40 psi on the section of the tire in your pic is the max pressure to seat beads when installing new tires.

Mine came with ~38 all around, and I lowered to the sticker amounts (33F/32R). Today I increased to 38F/37R, and I'll see how it impacts MPG and comfort.

DetroitFlyer, I just want to understand. The Ecopia tires are so much better that you replaced the original Yoko tires with no mileage on them? What is the difference in them that would warrant that investiment?

    Thanks,

    Rich N.
