Okay, I just went to do an oil change on my Prius for the first time.

I drained the oil, and discovered that my old universal oil filter wrench didn't fit. I couldn't get the oil filter off.

So, I refilled the oil, and plan on changing the oil filter tomorrow after I buy a new oil filter wrench.

Are there any significant problems with this?

The only time that would be an issue is if you are sampling the oil later to be tested.

I did the same and changed the filter 2 weeks later. Not a problem. You will lose only a couple of ounces of oil. Not enough in my case to warrant adding extra.

I do believe that you would still have a filter full of dirty oil being mixed with the new - that's the only drawback I can think of.

I don't think so. As I indicated, there was only a trace of oil in the filter when I changed it.
