What's in the Vehicle Shield Package?
    What does it do?
In particular, what is the "Noise Shield" and how well does it work?
Opinions solicited especially from those who have this option, or have ridden in Prii with and without the option.

Both Azimuth and I have posted a similar thread before and not gotten much feedback--mine got zero answers the first time. But being a stubborn guy, I'm trying again.

You'd have better luck bumping the other thread. If you think you can't find such products for less and they seem important to you, there's value. To me, it's almost pure dealer/region profit.

He wants to find out what the product IS. What is the benefit and what is the flaw?
KGALL, find out the actual name of the product (not the dealership's name for it) and search the internet for the answers to your questions. Sometimes you have to wait too long on these forums. Good luck.

    --EDIT--
I think I meant a different package. You probably meant the package that reduces road/engine noise.
    --/EDIT--

I worked for a year doing full details for a car wash part of a dealership. The vehicle shield packages normally deal with spraying a ffabric protector ormula on the upholstery that makes liquids bubble and not soak into the fabric (think how easy it'd be to clean a potentially messy situation) and hand-waxing the body with a paint sealant that helps the paint from the weathers and especially from bird droppings.

Now, I just got my Prius II and the finance manager is a friend. I asked him if they offered something similar to that shield package 'because he didn't offer me anything extra (being a friend and not trying to rip me off) like he's supposed to. However, he did mention it's a profit cow for dealerships and they know it and that the shady ones usually offer it. Now, if you ask me who's done it how long it takes and how much it costs, I'd say it's not worth it. You can do it yourself.

Anything coming from a dealer and attached to the word "package" should come with a complementary tube of KY Jelly, as you will need to bend over. It's a rip.

It's very effective at...removing money from your wallet, with little to no value in return.

Run--don't walk--away from these BS packages.

Now, if they're offering undercoating...that's another story.
