    I received an invitation from Southeast Toyota and Jim Barkley Toyota for all Asheville area PriusChatters to attend a 2010 Prius & Honda Insight "Hands On" Workshop this Thursday, June 25th at 1:30pm. Southeast Toyota will have a product trainer on hand to go over the features on the two cars and compare the technologies. It was scheduled to give Jim Barkley Toyota's salesmen a chance to compare the 2 cars and become more educated on the 2010 Prius, but Southeast Toyota and Jim Barkley Toyota have been nice enough to extend an exclusive invitation to PriusChat members and guests. Please RSVP in this thread or email me if you are interested in coming! Maybe we can try to schedule a lunch or something beforehand.

    Since I do not see anyone from Honda accompanying the poor Insight, it appears it will be nothing more than a piñata at the hands of the Toyota Sales people. ;)

    Cheers;

    I wonder what Honda can do to make their Insight as popular as the Toyota Prius.

    price. Emphasize on it. Yes it's only a $2k difference (and even then you're not comparing apples to apples cause a Prius II is better equipped than an Insight LX) but for someone who's on a tight budget, the LX works well.

    Yep. Knock down the price.

    As it stands the EX has absolutely no chance against the 2010 Prius. I mention the EX because that is the trim level that Honda has been selling the most.

    Don't worry guys...I'll park our Prius a block away, walk over and "pretend" to be a Honda sales rep...I'll even slick the few hairs back on my bald head and keep saying over and over again "it even looks just like a Prius" :rolleyes:

    Our local Toyota dealer has actually purchased a Honda Insight to have available as a comparison for people right in the dealership.

    The price is a deal-killer. He have a Honda dealer and a Toyota dealer across the street from each other, a mile from our house. We considered both.

    If the Insight had been priced with a base of $16,000, it would've been a close call As it is, the price differential with a Prius III is meaningless: it's not comparably equipped, it's not comparably built, it's not comparably comfortable, and it does not get comparable mileage.

    If they get the price right, their Honda Fit hybrid may be better competition -- much smaller, but much sportier, and perhaps competitive mileage-wise because of the smaller size.
