Unbelievably, we have 5. I have my own Ipod 160 gig player that I take to work for my podcast and movies. My wife has a first generation I nano, that is full and that one she takes for exercise. She also has a 30 gig Ipod classic that she listens to before she goes to sleep. Since it's bigger and bulkier, it tolerates being slept on, tossed to the ground, and any other commotion that might occur. She also has a new generation video I nano that's also full that and she uses with that with the car. Finally, we've bought our toddler a itouch as a present when our newborn joins us. At first I thought that was a crazy number, but I have a feeling our household isn't the only one like ours.

2 at the moment: an iPod Nano and an iPod Shuffle - both Genetech employee gifts that found their way into my home via a very generous friend. I have a third on the way - A refurbished SanDisk MP3 player I got for cheap from Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM). That'll be my gym one since it also has an FM tuner built in.

2, an iPod Touch (me) & an iPod 5th Gen (wife). Had a Shuffle too, but sold it. Use mine every day, but rarely bother in the car unless on a long trip. Have bought new ones with each generation, but we sell or give away the oldest one each time, otherwise we'd have 5 iPods now...

No ipods, but three mp3 players: two cell phones (Sony Ericsson) and one old generic player which never gets used. We also own several CD based systems that can play mp3, but I suspect that is not your intention.

Just one fully-working one (my iPhone). I also have a first-generation iPod that only works if it's docked, so I don't count that.

You can get the electrical adapter that makes it fully functional near an outlet.

No iPods, no portable MP3 players. The only thing I have that will play MP3s is my computer.

Three that get used: iPhone 3GS, 2nd Gen Touch, 4th Gen nano. Also have 3G and 1st gen iPhones that are packed away.

we have two. my old one erased all my music and i couldn't get it working, so i got a new one a couple of years ago. (music is a necessity when one is sitting alone in a small, dark room in front of a microscope for hours on end.) DH took the old one and tinkered with it, and apparently got it working again because he uses it now.

I understand I can plug it into my car in the center glove-box though...

well i have 60 GB... and before we get started, i have no idea on the generations, but this one was bought in 2005. a mini 4 GB bought in 2003, a 30 GB video pod bought in 2006 and little tiny one bought by
SO in Feb this year that is like 8 GB.

the 60 GB basically has all my CD's on it....about 400 or so. the 4 GB has all my podcasts, which are basically talk radio. the other two i rarely see or use as the one was taken over by SO. now i used to watch videos and such on the videopod, but now my cellphone does essentially the same thing and i dont have to connect and download the stuff in advance making waaaay more convenient. every once in a while signal strength can be an issue but its a rare event.

    We have two:

    • My wife has a 4GB iPod Mini
    • I have a first generation iPod shuffle (512 MB)
I would like a iPod touch but can't justify it right now since my shuffle works perfectly fine and will still run 10+ hours on a charge.

Old mini circa 2006 - me

I'm really amazed how Apple has sewed up the mp3 market.

    Six. All are mine.
80 gig iPod Classic (6th gen) - primary player
8 gig iPhone 3G - don't normally use to play mp3s since it's storage is too limited

3rd gen 4 gig iPod Nano refurb

    No longer used:
20 gig 4th gen b/w iPod [free from TiVo rewards]
Diamond Rio PMP500 [won in a drawing ages ago]
