    No problem. :) I've seen great reviews on them and even an article where our CalTrans (the guys that take care of our highways) went out and tested the Autosock and were impressed. I figured it was money well spent and they are much easier to carry around than chains.

    My nickname is based on my old racing "handle" of F8LPONY (Fatal Pony). Since 1994 or so I've had various license plates and nicknames for the race vehicles I've owned so it went: F8LPONY (drag race prepped 1987 Mustang GT), F8L2YOU (2000 Trans Am), F8L Z71 (turbocharged 2001 GMC Z71 truck). Then finally F8LFOO because I had a tendancy to get into roadside fights and one day some guy tried to punch me through my driver's side window and I leaned onto the center console of my Trans Am and literally kicked him back out of my car with my leg. Being young and stupid all my friends thought it was rather funny and since everyone called me F8L (Fatal) even when in person, it was a natural to add the foo part to it. :rolleyes: So yeah, on all the different racing forums I used to frequent I was F8L something. Irronically the nickname was supposed to be one of those cool "I'm faster than you" type things but it worked equally as well because I was fairly accident prone. Someday I'll tell you about the time I sprayed brake clean in my eye while trying to clean exhaust tips.... I bet you're sorry you asked now. Hahaha

    Ahh ok but then how often are they needed in the Lower Mainland? Studded tyres on bare road will rip up the road.

    I'd say a good winter tyre will do the trick. We mounted Nokian RSi on our friend's 99 Camry and it worked wonders here up north so I'm sure if it works here in -35°C temperatures and powder snow, it'll work in the slush and 0°C :D.

    I have to admit though that through my foreign lens I tend to read 'fahtaal', which has quite a different meaning. I look forward to your brake spray story. I'll swap you with my mosquito spray to the eye story.

    Taal is usually language right? As in Afrikaans and Dutch. Like Tsotsitaal. What is fahtaal?

    As for the story swaps, it's a deal. I like to hear stories of people being just as clumsy as me. :)

    Going back to the original pictures in this thread (especially the rear views:
    I can't figure out why all three cars (and so many other recent ones) have that blacked out area around the edge of the rear window, which does nothing except reduce visibility.
    Or is there something I'm missing?

    The rear window frame is now tucked underneath so as to make the rear window more aesthetically pleasing. IOW, the glass now covers the entire rear window area rather than older cars which had the rear window bordered by a black rubber frame.

    I'm going to get the car tinted in the next week to get rid of that black border on the back and side windows. I really wish BC didn't have laws against front window tint, not sure how good it's going to look dark on the back and clear on the front. My last car was midnight blue with tint on all the windows and looked awesome. I got away with it for 3 years until I got nabbed by a bike cop on Hastings a couple weeks ago, $110 fine.
    Autosocks, hard to believe they might actually work! They look so much easier, for the boyfriend to put on, than chains. He'd like that. :D

    Growing up in BC, I think I already got used to the tint in the back and clear in the front setup lol. I mean it'll just be like factory tint on minivans and SUVs (but darker).

    It might not count but my Honda Fit Sport Auto is getting 38+ mpg combined. I had an OTD price of $17,100 So quite a bit under invoice.
    We also bought one to replace my Prius. While they aren't hybrids the price and fuel economy are very attractive. The 2010 Prius is incredible but the Fit does a lot for the money. $6,000 buys a lot of gas. :D
    Next best thing to a Prius.

    If you can handle the size. :) There is not enough "payload" in the Fit or Yaris for me.

    So I always tell my friends to buy a used Prius. $10k-$15k is easy to find and saves a ton of money for fuel as well. Heck you might still even have the new car smell. lol

    The Fit does have quite a bit of room, but true I wouldn't want to take it across the country. Still it gets near enough to the Fusions 41mpg that the price is a factor.
    We wanted the Prius but no dice so at least we are getting good fuel economy. :)
    In a couple of years there will be a lot of new, good mpg vehicles out there. We are planning on buying an Aptera if we can buy one here in New Hampshire. I just hope the seats will work for me. :cool:

    Even though I *know* that 38 mpg in a well designed car like the Fit is a great overall package, I have gotten used to 60 mpg and don't want to go backwards. I'm a victim of Prius.

    On the front the prius looks understated and easy on the eyes, the insight looks overly aggressive and the fusion looks ordinary. From behind the insight is the better looking.

    Not sure what you mean. The Fit has more significantly more cargo space than the Prius. Both are about 21 cuft with seats up, but with seats down the 2010 Prius has 39.6 cuft vs the Fit at 57.3 cuft - 45% more space!
