Yes, reading the article I linked explains that the Quaranta is designed by the same team and is the latest iteration of the Italdesign / Toyota collaboration.

not sure if its mentioned or not. have you tried educating your stepson about the effects of global warming? how by choosing to drive a prius you are reducing your personal carbon footprint since it is classified as a super ultra low emission vehicle. by increasing you mpg, you are reducing fuel consumption. the list goes on.

my 6 yr old nephew understands the concept of global warming. because of that he thinks his uncle's prius is cool. i learned that its never too early to have discussions w/ children about environmental consciousness in general. my newphew & niece (3yrs of age) all practice conservation in their little way. they know how to recycle & reuse, turning off lights, not wasting water, etc.

have your stepson watch "an inconvenient truth". at 13 yrs of age, i'm sure he'll grasp the concept.

As a parent i also agree that you shouldn't bother yourself trying to change everything for him to accept that your prius is "cool" Doesnt matter what your age is different people have different tastes. But i agree with what ashe said. Its a great and neutral way of handling the situation. Even though by now im sure the OP isnt even following this thread anymore because of how long ago this was and unfortunatley his stepson hates him now. Sorry to hear that. But you can always show him these pics.. This pictures is what turned me on to wanting my own Prius.. Because right now the one and only prius we have belongs to my wife. I have a 2002 chevy Avalanche..lol which i love because its huge..but i recognize that its a gas guzzler and mostly unessesary. Im looking forward to getting a prius and "PIMPIN" in out but not in the riceyaroni method..lol I love the clean look of this prius..

Most likely, a 13 year old boy just thinks it is cool to think differently than Dad.
I don't have time to read the whole topic, but if not mentioned yet, add a couple 13 year old girls iin the car.

COOL! Those youngsters don't know what a REAL car should look like. I'd love to ahve an original Avanti, but the II isn't bad at all! At least it's not the 4-door

At that age, its like clothes, they are more concerned with the response from their peers than whether it works well.

A piece of crap corvette is "cooler" than a good running prius to a 13 year old.
If he's not a techy and can't appreciate what makes the prius tick, it may be hard to sell him.

Maybe he would prefer walking or riding a bike until the summer heat changes his mind?.... whats what most of us did at that age!

It looks like hell, especially with those wheels..
I would preffer normal wheels, not the one mounted on a Ferrari.. :D

Anyway, I love my Prius! I'm 25 years old and it's the best thing I could ever buy (excluding the prices that I should have to pay for Toyota spare parts, if my car will broke)!

If my son would hate my car and he wouldn't enter on it, for sure I will kick his nice person and give him a good punish. It's the education here..

So.. what do you think about Prius, as a Japanese owner?
You were ironic when you've said to enjoy my car?:p I didn't understood exactly your message..

Anyway, today I've buy from eBay one cell for my Prius HV battery, in case that I will have problems. My car it's from 2007, but I still have left 6 years/160.000km left from warranty at the hybrid system.

It was a bargain, I've paid 30USD for it, from a 2005 Prius with 50k miles.

Unfortunately the things are in other direction. The USD is EXPENSIVE, compared to our local currency.

    Summer 2008: 1USD=2.3RON
    Now, 2009: 1USD=3.4RON:eek:

Indeed, to fix your problem with the battery, it's a real bargain, if your HV battery crashes..

I'd refrain from recommending this in every single post of yours until someone with more Prius knowledge has purchased these units and successfully installed them.

This thread is very old by the way, did anyone bother to check the original post's date?

"More Prius knowledge" you don't need to DIY this change of a cell in the whole HV battery pack. They are connected in series and don't need to to nothing than to change the accumulator.

You need only precision, a screw driver and some patience.. and 30US to pay the new cell from eBay. Pay yourself 2-3k USD if you want on a new battery pack, I will not recommend this to anyone. I'd prefer eBay.

Me don't. It's funny this discussion and this is why I've continued to reply on this topic. Probably the rest of the people did the same because of this reason.:D

Normally when you put a new cell in series with older ones, the older ones pull the new one down to their level.

During a recharge, the new one takes the charge easy and during discharge, it gives easy.. so it gets overworked till it matches the rest of the older cells.

I suppose no harm done.... just don't think your getting a new battery, the cheap trade-off is the same.
