I saw my first one just last night -- a Barcelona Red in the parking lot at Trader Joe's in Los Altos. I rolled down my window and gave a thumbs up but the other driver was clearly concentrating on driving out of the lot. I then tried to beep my horn to get the driver's attention, but my own Prius is so darn new that I couldn't figure out where on the steering wheel to press in time! (I've since practiced with my car horn in case I'm confronted with this situation again. Or, ya know, an actual emergency.)
Have not seen a single one on the road. I have been driving to LA & the Bay area regularly, and have yet to see one! Lots of them at the dealer >10.
I saw a blizzard white pearl in the parking lot of a local seafood restaurant the other day. I am starting to be able to quickly tell the difference between the gen II and gen III .
Other than mine I saw a blue one yesterday with temporary tags, headed west on I-66 near Rt. 123. Snazzy color.
I saw two this morning "in the wild" ... a silver IV with NAV at my credit union, parked, and a white one that was a blur as I went by it on the freeway going thru the LB area on my way to Manhattan Beach. Funny to not see that many out on the freeways but my commute is rather erratic. Di
Very disappointing that I have yet to see one. I am looking everywhere, because there is no substitute for seeing colors in person.
It's possible that was me heading to GMU to talk to a professor. The blue color is amazing. (It was our first color choice and we got it.) I think I've seen 2 around Arlington, but being new to the Prius, it's easy for me to mistake a well-maintained 2009 for a 2010, depending on the angle. (Arlington seems to be THE Prius hotspot in the DC area.) Strangely enough, I was out in Manassas last week and when I pulled up to a traffic light there were 3 other Priuses scattered among the other waiting cars. It was coming out of an industrial park kind of setting, so I don't think it was some kind of Prius Meet or anything. I do think Toyota will achieve their goal of pushing the Prius mainstream.
I've seen one new Insight, but no new Priuses. Excluding one turning into a nearby dealership, apparently returning from a test drive, as I drove by displaying the colors of a competing dealer. But I have been part of several multi-generation flocks of Prii on the highway.
Just saw a 2010 Prius Blizzard Pearl parked on Jackson Dr La Mesa and a new Honda Insight White traveling on Fletcher Parkway, La Mesa .
I was just reading this thread yesterday, and saying to myself, "Nope, just me and my Prius." Ran to the grocery store in my small town of 5,000 and low and behold there was a Winter Gray 2010 in the parking lot!! I parked across from it, hoping to see the owner, but he/she was still in the store when I left.
Saw one in/out of Houston (I-10 east of Beltway 8) about a week ago battling evening rush hour. Can't remember the color though. Passengers in my car thought I was nuts for twisting 180degrees to confirm it was a Gen III since I was headed in opposite direction.
I thought I was going to get mine before seeing any as they haven't been very wide spread. I saw 2 within 2 days of finally getting mine on Monday. Yeah me!! Finally.... Thought the day would never come. And of course now that I have mine which I totally love by the way I haven't seen another one except at the dealer lots. In the 3 full days I have had the car my only complaint is the light colored carpet in the cargo area. What were they thinking? I know some people have flipped it over, but looks like I will end up having to get an all weather mat in the future. Have a baby on the way in a few months and strollers with dirty wheels will not make me happy getting my light carpet dirty. Wow, did I ever get off topic. Sorry....
First sighting in Concord, MA! We've had so few delivered in the area it was great to see a silver one parked in the center of town. Too bad I don't like silver, I could have grabbed a IV with NAV today. I found one at a local dealership that wasn't presold - how'd that happen?! You can bet it will be gone tomorrow.
I have been madly looking for my first spotting 'in the wild' as I wait for the call that mine can be picked up (arrived at the port only yesterday!). Catching a ride this afternoon with a coworker I know well to a meeting with a customer. As we walk out to the parking lot, my eyes bug out to see a Blue 2010 Prius in the parking lot! Then, they bug out BIG TIME when my coworker walks up to the driver's door and gets in!!! So, I actually got to ride a few miles in the passenger seat - which I had not actually done while test driving . . . I learned that he has been driving his new base model Prius for almost 3 weeks since his previous junker was totaled while parked. He had some most fortunate timing to fall into that one! Sweet ride.
Finally, saw my first one in the wild, Blizzard Pearl on a street just north of Seattle, but didn't look fast enough to see which dealer colors were in the plate holder. Unfortunately, I was driving my ancient Honda for what may be its next-to-last outing.
I also saw one in the Seattle area. Blue. It was parked on the street in a neighborhood in the north Seattle area.
