June 30 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. may offer to supply a version of its Prius hybrid car to General Motors Corp. during a meeting between the companies’ chief executives, two people familiar with the plan said.

Toyota President Akio Toyoda and GM’s Fritz Henderson will meet in Michigan in August said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plan isn’t public. A GM-badged car based on the Prius is among the options for new products at a jointly owned factory in California after GM said it would end assembly of the Pontiac Vibe there earlier than planned, they said.

From the title, I instantly had this image of Bob Lutz laying down at the end of the assembly line saying, "Over my dead body!" ... followed by the first ever sound of screeching tires from a Prius at the head to line ... driven by Rick Wagner.

    oh dear god.

It'll be a cheaper Prius for sure but with a Delco radio and seats from an Aveo.

Then they can slap Volt badging on it (as I predicted) and its approval rating here will improve.

I don't think the approval rating of the Vibe here is any better than the Matrix lol.

All I can say is: Wow!

Of course, GM would have to train mechanics on how to work on their version of the Prii. I probably wouldn't buy one from GM for a couple of years!
