I was in a work related meeting when my cell phone went off at 10:40 A.M.. I couldn't talk on the phone so the message about my Prius being at the dealer went to voicemail.

I couldn't leave work early until 3 P.M.. The afternoon flew up knowing that I was picking up my car in the early evening. Right now I know the basics of the car to make it from point A to B and back.

I was driving my now "X" X-Type Jaguar to work. I was preparing to enter the garage when I recognized my salesman's Caller ID on my cell. Immediately pulled to the curb. He offered to have it fueled and ready within 3 hours. Knowing I had a meeting, I gave him 4 hours. The rest is history. It's been over 20 years since I owned a Toyota (1979 Supra). My initial impressions have been met and exceeded for a hybrid car. As a matter of fact, for any car.

Just curious, did it arrive within the ETA range provided by the dealer?

I tracked its arrival at the port (Newark) and she called me the day it was off the ship with the VIN #. She called again when it was in F status (on the car carrier) and it actually arrived to the dealership earlier than she had expected.

That makes me think there is something wrong with my car again...

Congrats Maggie! I know you've been quite patient. You are going to love it. I got mine on Tuesday, and keep finding reasons to go drive somewhere. It's like I just got my driver's license all over again!

Yikes!! No, it doesn't! :( If it is in F status, you should be able to get a VIN # - nevertheless. I think the trip from the port to the dealer can be a winding road with many stops along the way. Don't panic - lightening won't strike you twice!! The dealer will call when you least expect it and you'll be doin' the happy dance!

Dianne just called an hour and a half ago! The plane flight to pick it up is tomorrow morning. The drive back 'home' is tomorrow afternoon. We missed the weekend of the 4th, but that is o.k. . . . it will be worth the wait!

I was sitting at home, lamenting the fact that I had not heard today - for yet another day! But Dianne called me from a family dinner, eating out! Looking forward to meeting her face to face!

Undecided on a Camry Hybrid or the Prius, I ventured out to a local Toyota dealer on June 6, 2009. I test drove the Camry and was not overly impressed. When I asked to test drive the Prius, the salesman chuckled. He indicated that they were sold out of the 2009 models and that there was a long waiting list for the 2010. He also mentioned that dealers in the Washington DC area were charging $2,500 over the sticker (a sales ploy to be sure).

Anyway, he claimed that at their sales meeting that very morning the sales manager indicated that Toyota notified the dealer that they would be receiving a V with the advanced technology package and if I was interested I should put a down payment on this silver with light gray Prius. I anxiously plunked down a $500 deposit, agreed to the sticker price, received a generous amount for my trade and was informed that she would arrive in early July. Talk about high pressure, it worked and 20 days later I picked her up. I am looking forward to testing the dynamic cruise, lane keep assist on an upcoming road trip. :focus:

I recevied my call on June 16th informing me that she should arrive on June 22nd and be ready shortly thereafter, I picked her up on June 26th.

Was at my desk at work when Dianne called. Just picked up a Blue Ribbon III with solar roof. First drive was along the 405 north from the dealer. Stuck in traffic the whole way, 14mph average for the first hour driving due to a rather impressive wildfire along the side of the highway in the Hollywood hills. Nav told me about the problem but didn't suggest an alternative route, and I wasn't ready to start fiddling with it at that point to find out how to get it to do that. Not a great start for mileage - there was a disappointing 3 for the first digit at that point, so I spent the rest of the trip nursing it carefully to bring it up into the 40s. It's amazing how quickly that display can change driving habits of a lifetime.

My car arrived here in Denver exactly on the date promised, which was three weeks from when the ship was at port. My dealer did not keep me informed on the progress, so I began to imagine that they sold my car to someone else who was willing to pay more than I, since one wouldn't think it would take that long to get from Long Beach to Denver.

So the call at 8:30 a.m. on Monday was a welcome relief, and I picked up my silver Prius II at 4 p.m. -- just in time for a huge thunderstorm! Fortunately, no hail!

    Love the car!

Likewise. Thanks for making my first new car buying experience a pleasant one. As luck would have it, when I got back to work the only spaces left were on the parking garage roof, so that solar roof it going to be earning its keep right away.

Some history: When we bought our Gen II back in January of 2004, we had been #50 on the waiting list at a local dealer for several weeks. Our number was slowly coming down but the delivery date was also moving out into the distance. We finally gave up waiting there after I found one on the internet at a dealer in Morgantown, WV, about 210 miles from home. It was worth the trip and we came home with a black beauty with the top end nav/sound package. About six months later, she got badly pelted in a hail storm and wound up with more dimples than a nursery full of new-born babies. Fortunately, the paint surfaces weren't broken and the car went to its new owner still dimpled but 80,000 miles older and otherwise in excellent condition.

This time a different story. We stopped at my local Toyota dealer on a Thursday and test drove a V with the AT package. I was in love! Saleman said he'd know over the weekend when he would have another one like his demo available for customer delivery. I called on Monday but didn't get an answer. I tried again on Tuesday, still couldn't get a definite answer. I bided my time on Wednesday. Thursday, right after lunch, my salesman called me at work to let me know that a Silver V with the AT package had turned up on their lot. "Do you want it? I can have it ready for you this evening!" he said. After about 5 milliseconds of hesitation, I said "YES!" I told him I'd stop in on my way home and give him a deposit and plan on picking up the car on Saturday when I'd have my checkbook and the title to my old car. Needless to say, I didn't get much work done that afternoon.

I called my S.O. at home and told him I'd be late getting home from work. When I told him why, he (being even more excited than me) offered to bring my papers to the dealer so we could take the car that night. He was actually at the dealer before I was! So, after moving all my clutter to the new car, moving my grandfathered Virginia "Clean Fuel" tags (and their unrestricted HOV exemption!) to the new car, and signing all the papers, the deal was done and the car was mine.

So, it was exactly one week from "test drive" to "drive home in new car". I should add that I am thrilled with the car and all of its evolutionary improvements. But I have been absolutely awed by the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. It was worth the price. It totally redefines "Cruise Control" and I may never again be happy driving a car with a plain, old, conventional cruise control. Playing with it on a test drive doesn't really introduce you to it. It takes a while of using it several times on a fast-moving expressway to really get used to it and appreciate its action.

My wife got the call this afternoon at home. Although we can't pick it up until Monday, we stopped by the dealership and snapped a few photos of our Blue Ribbon II. We already have a nice little drive around a lake planned for the evening we pick it up!

Last week, I was told by the inventory manager at Round Rock Toyota that my car was due at the processing facility in Houston on July 8th.

On the 8th I got a call from my sales woman that the car was being processed in Houston. I checked with the inventory manager and he said the computer indicated the "completion date" as July 10th, and he expected the car within a couple of days.

On the morning of July 10th, he called and left a message with my wife that the car had left Houston and was on the way.

That afternoon, my wife and I went to CarMax to have our 2004 Prius appraised. When we got home there was a message from my sales woman that the car had arrived and I could pick it up. It was too late to go over that day, so I left a message that we would be in after lunch on the following day. She called back on Saturday morning and suggested that we come in before noon to beat the Saturday crowd (and the heat of the day). We now have a shiny new 2010 Prius in our garage.

I was supposed to trade in my Yaris for the Prius I ordered 12 days ago, but a private buyer wanted to test drive it this morning and during the test drive, I got "the call" from my dealership!!!

The guy ended up buying my Yaris this morning and we drove to pickup the Prius right after! :)
