It's a win-win situation. I feel as if a couple of creatures love me, and in return they have a willing slave who waits on them hand and foot

    I was complimenting the cats.

I don't believe she'd visit Canada for a million dollars. You'd have to kidnap her, and she'd chew her own leg off to get out of it.

I'm quite sure you're wrong on this one. The one time they asked me again if I'd been arrested (on second thought, I think there were two other times) they looked at my letter, ran a check on their computer, and welcomed me to Canada.

I always knew that being an ex-con could be an issue. It was just a question of when they'd bother asking the question. Note that Australia also makes an issue of it, though there are no car border crossings into OZ, so the paperwork has to be done beforehand. The other difference is that for OZ, I'll have to do the whole paper application by mail any time I want to visit, whereas with Canada I can now enter whenever I like with no issues.

I need to get the letter plasticized, though, because the creases where it's folded are getting soft.

    Always an option!

I'm wrong about many things, and freely admit it too. Thing is I searched the CBSA website, and there is no mention of the need for such a document

I should caution you that laminating most "official" documents (Birth Certificate, social insurance/security card, landed immigrant, etc) automatically voids them. I found that out the hard way, around 12 years ago, when I thought I'd save a lot of wear and tear on my birth certificate paper

They only accept originals, or certified replacements. Shiny plastic over top, uh uh, no way
