Still trying to see a solar roof in DC, MD, or VA

    I've managed to see the Prius 2010 in every color now but still haven't managed to see one with a solar roof. IMO the roof makes all the difference in the appearance and I especially want to see how it looks in blizzard pearl, winter grey, blue ribbon, and sandy beach.

    If anybody knows of a dealer in DC, Maryland, or VA that has some in, please post! I can also go to West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

    I have people at 3 dealers with my info who are supposed to call me when they get one with a roof, even if I can just look at it. No luck yet, when I do hear I'll let you know so you can go see it too...

    Thanks, please do. The salesperson at Jim Coleman's in Bethesda said he'd call but I haven't heard from him. I have visited a number of dealers in the area but (as I reported in my "invisible" thread) most do not show enough interest to even take my name and tell me they'd call -- unless I place an order and put down a deposit.

    Have you been further out, such as WV or PA? I was in Georgia and Florida last week - visited one dealer in Brunswick, GA and called a few in Jacksonville, FL but none of them have one with a roof. The places I called in Jacksonville didn't have any 2010 Prii.

    On a road trip from AZ to CA and back, I spotted one other Gen III going opposite direction on I-10 on each leg (one Friday, one today). Neither had solar roof. 5 minutes after spotting the eastbound Gen III on Friday, I saw two car carrier trucks, both with 1, then 2-3 Prius, none appeared to be w/ solar (or V for that matter). Different region than what you're asking about, but definitely seems to be a rarer option than expected.

    There's very few Solar Roof cars out there, and from what I have heard, even fewer are being allocated outside of sun belt states right now. For us at least, that's the hardest car to get (Im at a Toyota store in NY)

    Try Russell Toyota, near Columbia. If they don't have one in now, they will in a few days. I don't think they have it, or incoming, in your colors. I believe they have one in black and one in a few days in silver, but they may have changed since yesterday.

    I saw one on the lot at Koon's Toyota in North Arlington (off Lee Highway). That was about a week ago.

    None at Koons when I was there, and the salespeople were all so stupid I didn't even bother to give them my card. The best question was "Why don't you have the clean special fuel tag" (we had the Prius when we stopped by) and I had to show him it was a Maryland tag and not a Virginia tag...no special Hybrid plates in MD.

    i have a IV solar but its not for sale (its mine)

    i am in leesburg va

    i would be happy to show it to you and let you test drive it

    you would probably go 70 west to Frederick and then come down 15 to Leesburg, or take the beltway around to 7 or 267 and come west

    Yes, it's an interesting way to get there. The concept is so low tech -- a ferry that's towed back and forth across the river.

    I popped by my dealer yesterday to pick up plates, and lo and behold, there was my car's twin - another silver IV with the solar roof! Bill Page Toyota in Falls Church had just gotten it in and it was unspoken for - the woman who bought it had just called around for one and found it.

    I think thet silver would look really nice with the roof, too. But I wouldn't want another silver.

    Did you say it wasn't spoken for, or did that woman buy it?

    Thanks to Fred Garvin, I finally saw the 2010 Prius IV with solar -- and it was in Blizzard Pearl, which is probably going to be my choice. The black roof and white body is very very cool, especially from the outside with the moonroof open.

    The only disappointment was that it was overcast when I saw it, and the blizzard pearl looks a little off-white in that light. I've seen it in sunlight and it really sparkles.

    Try Ray Alvarez at DarCars in Silver Springs. He had a 4 in Sandy Beach 2 days ago w/ sunroof and seems to get some in every few days. I bought a blue ribbon model 4 w/ sunroof from him a few days ago. I live just south of Columbia. If you want to see it just PM me.
