We did this last night. Exactly as described. The reverse beep is gone...that's a good thing. The driver's seatbelt beep is gone...another good thing. When we unlock with one push on the fob all doors unlock...a good thing...but, we don't usually use the fob.

    What happened that we'd like to correct is three things;
    1. Being able to open the door without having to push the fob pushbutton...just walk up with the fob in your purse and grab the door handle and have all doors open.
    2. Now, if we use the fob to lock the car we can lock it with the other fob in the glovebox...not a good thing.
    3. Now we can't use the pushbutton on the door handle to lock the car..again, eliminating the need to use the fob...just have it on us or in the purse.

This really works!! I went to my Toyota dealer to have the reverse beep disabled and was told it could not be done. I will give them these directions for future use. Thanks again.

Press and hold the LOCK and the PANIC button at the same time to change the unlocking feature. By default, it's:

    Driver's door - driver's door only
    passenger door - all doors
    hatch - all doors.

Performing that step I described above will change the driver's door to unlock all doors which is what you want.

Performing that step once again will only let each door to open that door only. Finally, doing it again will revert back to default.

I talked with my salesman about getting some things customized, and he referred me to the Service Manager, whom I spoke with today. His shop foreman at Miller Toyota in Manassas, VA did the work in a few minutes, plugging a laptop into the car and setting the reverse beep to once, the seatbelt beeps to off, and the key fob to unlock all doors with one push of the unlock button. Happy camper here, especially with the reverse beep now just a single beep instead of that incessant beeping getting out of my garage.

Mine was the first Gen III sold in Manassas, and the first one the service department had customized anything on.

So I tried this and I screwed something up. Not only could I not get all of my doors to unlock automatically, but I somehow also turned off the automatic review camera as well. In trying to get this hack to work I tried to use the lock button of the door + the panic button and when that didn't work I tried using the lock button on the remote. Does anyone know how I can undo what I have done?

umm... how the remote had anything to do with the reverse camera is beyond me. I see no relation. I apologise if the method I listed cause you issues (I swear it's the correct procedure!).

Once again, I apologise for any inconveniences.

Oh no, I don't blame you for anything. I'm sure it's something I did, or failed to do when I attempted this. Now that I've done it though I was hoping that someone had an idea about how to recover from it.

    *edit*
well the backup cam is working this morning, but the locks still aren't. Oh well. Thanks for your help.

Okay...I must be a confirmed dope.

I tried to disable the backup beep following the above instructions.

I couldn't get it to work.

I am 100% sure I am in ODO mode.
I am 100% sure I held the Trip mode button for at least 10 seconds within six seconds of powering up (I tried at least three times counting to 20).
I am 100% sure I continued to hold the Trip mode button, then shifted to R and then P, then released the Trip mode button.

NOTHING CHANGED whatsoever on my display. NO toggle to "b on" or "b off".

Any comments or suggestions or most wanted...HELP!

Or, is this something that cannot be accomplished in a 2010 Prius?

I did accomplish getting all four doors to open when I open the drivers side door, however. So, I'm not a complete dope. :)

    Gmalis,
Those directions don't work for a 2010. You have to go to a dealer and have them reset the beep.

It doesn't work on the European Prius unfortunately.

What Bica2go said. It's only for the Gen 2.

Hmm... so you can't unlock using the remote?

No, the remote works fine, I was just trying to figure out how to get all of the doors unlocked with the smart key function.

I tried all these steps several times with no luck.
I have a 2010 Prius with the Solar Panel.
When you power the car back on, do you keep your foot on the brake the whole time?
Also, I'm assuming the ODO button you hold down is the Trip button.
    Thank you,
    Jeffrey

Sorry at this time no one has found a way to do it themselves on the 2010s. It must be done by the dealer.

You have to have the dealer do it for a 2010.

If you touch the passenger side door or rear hatch relase, you'll unock all of the doors. On the other hand, you could try the method that works with the '10 Prius:
From outside the car, push and hold both the lock & unlock buttons on your key-fob until you hear a series of beeps. Generaly about 5 seconds, the series of beeps indicate the change has been make.

Relock the doors and touch the driver's door handle to see if anything changed.
I apologize, I don't recall for certain weather this will work for your car if it's not a '10 model.

I've seen tons of people wanting to disable the reverse beep, but frankly I wonder if that is such a great idea.

Several times I have had the shift lever in the "N" position meaning to put it into "P" (by pressing the button), but been distracted and not realizing the car was still in gear, almost rolled into a wall or a car parked in front of me. Having a car in reverse can be even worse because people might expect a car to roll forward, but rarely backward-- making a correct response to an accidental roll problematic.

For me I will put up with the reverse beep. It keeps my mind of the BACK of the car, and I always remember to shift to drive or park when done! It doesn't really bother me once I became accustomed to it.

Too bad it doesn't work for the '10.

We had an 05 we recently sold and are taking delivery of a 10 this afternoon.
