Lead time and UK relevant Prius chat

Anyone that has ordered in the UK been given any notification on delivery? I have just ordered off the company scheme and have had an estimate of early August.

My Wife ordered the "All New Fiesta" titanium a few weeks ago and they are quoting mid September. I would be very shocked if the Prius did arrive when expected. Anyone else been given any idea of arrival time here in the UK?

I am guessing they will have some sort of stock for release day so I might be lucky. I have gone for the T Spirit in Novus Grey so it is probably a common colour so it is possible it would be a car they would get in early on if they are building a stock. Only issue I have now is that if both cars arrive when promised my Prius will be on an 09 plate and the wife will get a 59 plate a week or so after release.

I ordered in June and my estimate is 1st September. I read on another forum that some UK dealers are now reporting September / October for cars ordered now. I dont think many will get their cars on the 1st August. Not bad considering the car isn't officially launched until 1st August although quite a few people have now had a chance to drive one at the launch events Toyota GB are running. I attend the last one on Saturday at MIRA in Warwickshire.

With the good reviews in CAR and Autocar, I can see this car being a big seller. Like in Japan, availability is going to be an issue I'm sure.

SNAP! I have ordered the exact same model & colour combo :D

I ordered mine v v early on, and am expecting (read hoping) delivery for August 1st. Dealer has requested delivery around 27th July so it can be prepped in time.

Still awaiting confirmation of registration info, but that won't happen for a week or two yet.

I just hope that there won't be any delays on these dates 'cos the wait is killing me!

Note to Toyota GB if you read this (I know you lurk in this forum LOL) - is there any way to find out if the cars are on schedule?

Just to add how obsessed I've become over this now - I've even setup my own delivery countdown online at www.robina3.f9.co.uk/prius

When someone at work asks "How long until you get your new car?" I can tell them down to the second!! How sad am I? LMAO !!!

The Southampton dealer was able to tell me when the ship was due to deliver my Gen II. As it got to within a few weeks, the sales exec would update me on the estimated delivery date weekly. I remember one phone call advising me that due to bad weather the ship was going to be a few days later than originally estimated.

    Hang in there.

LOL. My better half keeps laughing at me as I trawl through forums and websites. I have shown her your excellent countdown timer and she does not think I am quite so bad now!! You have done me a favour. To be honest, before I was quoted early August if people asked when the new car was coming I just said probably next year some time. I have read so many people waiting in the US that I just expect it. I am a bit more hopeful of a better result than next year now but I still think mine will be put back. Wait and see. Nothing I can do about it! Only thing is I have people wanting to buy my current car and not knowing could kill that sale. If I knew when the Prius or the wife’s Fester was coming for certain it would help.

Good luck with yours and let us know if your wish comes true or if your head explodes on August the 2nd!!

    Mr P

I'm actually quite worried that if the 1st August doesn't go as expected my disappointment will be so immense it will cause the entire UK to get sucked into a vortex, and we'll all end up in an alternative space time continium.

Either that or i'll be very British about the whole thing, roll my eyes, tut to myself, but not want to cause a fuss :D

I won't be getting mine until the reg change on March 1st, so I am hoping that dealers will have a better idea of lead times and know the best time to order.

After driving it at Longcross I was seriously tempted to order now, but my current car will be 3 years old in March, so that seems a good time to change :)

I will be so envious of you guys in August/September :D

This may be tosh, but my guess is that the first batch of prii? are on the MV Toronto, due Bristol Sunday 12th July. This seems to be the only suitable ship until the Torrens and Artemis Leader (26th and 27th July) and they seem too late to get demonstrators into all dealers as promised by 1st August.
The Toronto passed through the Straits of Gibraltar yesterday having called at ports in Greece, Italy, France and Spain and after Bristol it goes to Germany. This could suggest the first batch of prii? for Europe?
Like I said, probably tosh but amusing to speculate.

I can't post urls yet, but Google Bristol port then go Shipping Info/Forward Movements.

My dealer just rang me to finalise my order, as I want leather. He told me 7 to 8 weeks, though he expects that time to come down. So realisticly I'm looking at the beginning of September with a "59" plate. Nice to have it confirmed though....

I'm sure that boat will have more demonstrators on. I think Toyota GB want at least 2 cars per dealer, one for static display and one for test drives; in place for the launch on Saturday 1st August. Thats only 3 weeks tomorrow. It will probably have the first customer cars on it too (i.e. those like tone_uk who ordered at the very beginning of June).

Another good review in What Car out today in the UK. Non of the UK press have given it a bad review. CAR review is due out next week, but we know from the website that it will be favourable. I can see big waits for people ordering in August / September.

From what I understand from chatting to the guys at Longcross is that all the cars used for Longcross & Mira are going into Dealers as demonstrators and the dealer will get another one for the showroom :)

I wish I had such good news, lack of communication with my dealer is making me very edgy.

I called them this afternoon - was told they were busy with other customers and would ring me back (they haven't). Popped down to dealer this evening to order boot liner as prices are now out for those and the Parts man was helpful as always. Sales staff were noticeably absent!

Wandered around showroom for about 5 mins and still no life  Normally they are buzzing around like bees around a honey pot!

If it was coming you'd think they'd be letting me know by now.

I'll get back in my box now :)

Just been advised by my dealer - delivery about 22nd July! - so looks like first batch is on MV Toronto.
    I ordered mine early June.

My faith in the dealership is restored. Had to wait over an hour to see someone today because they were so busy (who said the motor trade was in trouble!)

Anyway - long and short of it is I came away feeling warm and fuzzy again and looking forward to my new car in a couple of weeks :)

After attending the customer event at MIRA on Saturday (which was fun) I can see from the literature handed out at the end that Toyota hopes to sell 4,500 this year and 7,200 next in the UK. It will be very interesting to see if they make those numbers. I suspect big waiting lists will be the order of the day.

    Congrats to both of you!

Even if my car is ready in the middle of August I will wait till the beginning of September now for the '59' plate. It will be painful but I'm sure I will manage.

Anyone got any idea about insurance groups yet?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was something like group 7.

A drop of 5 group's for me, if that is correct.:cheer2:

    It's Group 7E. :)

(7E is a Group 8 car that has had it's rating lowered to 7 because the security aspects of the car exceed what is required for an 8)

Just had a call from my local business centre and he predicted my T Spirit in Novus Grey should not be a problem for arrival in the first two weeks in August. He did say my order was not with them though so I am not sure where my leasing firm have ordered it from. It sounds like there is a good number of certain spec and colours being bought in for launch. I guess it might be different from area to area.

The way he was talking there was no issue with orders taken around now, arriving within a few weeks of launch. As I say this could be that the south east have more on the way than others although I can’t see why apart from the fact they sell well because of the congestion charge and there must be a good amount set aside for business orders as these leasing firms demand good deals and good service. The new Prius is going to be very popular on company schemes as the TAX is so low and there is no other car of that size with so much spec for that money. Not even close.
