    Wow.

I'm here guys! I didn't think I was so loved by the Prius owning gang!

Never fear. I'm still working on bringing the plug in conversion kits to the UK :) They of course have less safety issues than the Velma :(

Yes! I'm afraid we sold Daphne. Kate works from home - and while she was a fantastic car she was a fantastic car which was costing us £497 a month in finance. When Kate was working out of the house that made sense, but now she works from home it sat there most of the time eating money.

So we got a ForTwo Smart Passion, with a CDI engine. It's meant to get 85 mpg, so we'll have fun trying to hypermile that!

I'd love to have another Prius, but my heart is in EVs. Right now we settled the finance on Kate's car (and had some spare, which is good) and switched that mammoth Prius payment to a £120 month payment for the smart. The insurance company also wrote Velma off, and offered us £7,250 (They'd valued her at 7,500). Given how difficult it is to value a car which was modified like this I'm not sure how much of a leway I would have in persuading them to increase the valuation.

Right now though, the finance for Velma has been written off too. And we got a little back from her. This was the last we saw of my wonderful PHEV:

    But:

I do still have some bits and bobs I'd like to offer for sale:

    1) BMS + and Can View, including the harness I made to fit between the car and the BMS+ allowing you to fit it without cutting the car's harness. I'm looking for sensible offers around £350.

    2) Low resolution '04 MFD. It is the four-button type (non sat nav). £100?

    3) Spare wheel, jack etc. (Basically, everything I took out of the trunk prior to converting her). £100?

    4) Front Left wing (fender) - Black, with a hole for a side-repeater.
    £50?

Make me some offers. It's easier than using Ebay!

    Nikki.

P.S. Am more than happy to keep people up to speed with the new car plans. At the moment we're staying a single car household, but the plan is to buy this car - a 1985 CityStromer in great condition. With new batteries we're looking at 60 mph and 50 miles :)

    Adam Walker's 1984 Volkswagen CitySTROMer

P.P.S. Off to view the 2010 Prius today and film "Nikki Drives". Watch this space!

    That's strange. I don't know why - it's working for me. It's a twitter based picture. :/

Well done on your range - Great! I have never managed that far a trip on battery alone. I wonder if I just have bad luck choosing batteries...

    Anyway.

The Stromer will happen if I can save up some much-needed cash this summer. It depends on what happens in the next few weeks really.

I also forgot to mention, but I have a used SLi 2 for sale for a Prius too. The model has the older firmware but worked great in Velma. Anyone wanting to use it with a 07-onwards will have to upgrade the firmware, but it's a great little box which allows you to listen to your iPod/iPhone through the car without annoying interference from an FM trasmitter or unsheilded aux cable. You'll need to take the dash apart to use it - but it's pretty easy.

I've got two cables for the ipod/iphone to go with it - the original one and one which will charge the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Anyone want to make me an offer? It cost me £200 new.

I've decided, although officially I'm against naming cars :D, to name my Prius PHEV project car 'Nikki' in honor of the not so minor journey taken by our pioneering friend in the UK.

If anyone questions the manliness of naming my car, I'll say it's a nickname for Nickel.

Because of Zivan charger meltdown (I'm not just blaming Zivan, but still) I'm building my own charger with help from other users of the BMS+ setup.

Got my temperature sensing circuit working finally - lots to learn about electronics. It's dialed in so that if I breath on it, a little light comes on from the slight increasing in temperature of my breath. :). Next step is to wire it in so that a high voltage relay salvaged off extra Prius pack will be deactivated when temp is too high. Will post pictures when it doesn't look like a middle school science project.

On a different note - I'm still smelling occasional coolant smell in the cabin and noticed my Inverter reservoir was tiny bit low - about 75ml added brought it up to full but it was full when I bought the car. I can't find any leaks anywhere - nothing on the ground.

Yeah, I guess I should. No laughing though! I'm just embarrassed about how slow I am to get anything done. So I might post something like, "Success! I bought a battery" and then a month later, "Success! I crimped a connector on the battery!" I'll take some pictures though and start a thread

Nikki, I guess i should have asked about using your name. I can always go down to the courthouse and have the name changed back to "Why does your boot smell like a cat peed in it?"

That it is a nice bus, is it all electric?, AC regen or pure DC?
I see it is a left hand drive vehicle, is it British made?

Were you able to rescue anything out of the ill Velma :( beside the Canview equipments?

    Sigh, June 2009 and it hit £1 a litre and in April 2012 it's at £1.44. :(

Quite a jump in 3 years. Glad I got the Prius though.

Yup, so much so we're considering putting a plug-insupply kit into our Gen II Prius...

A lot has changed since Velma. My wife lost her job, and we ended up living without any hybrids.

Her Prius was replaced with a Smart ForTwo CDI for two years, and we got a Volvo 240 Wagon when we successfully adopted two kids.

Now we're back to a Prius and a Leaf-- the perfect combination.

My 2011 Leaf has 15,000+ miles after one year, while her 2008 Prius has only put on 8,000 miles in a year.

The reason? She drives the Leaf most of the time... ;)

Anyone in the U.K. with a Plug-In Supply kit? Would be interested to see/talk about it.
