My wife and I got a deal yesterday that we could not pass up. We traded in her 2008 Corolla for a 2009 Prius. She has an 80 mile round trip commute and we needed a larger car due to us having a baby recently. We were looking at the Camry but the only colors they had left for 2009 were red, red, and red. :) The Prius we have is white which is good for the hot summer heat we get here in Texas.

So far so good, she averaged 53 MPG on the way home from the dealership. We got the Package 5 which has the NAV and backup camera.

I certainly enjoy my 09 package V. 80 miles will be plenty of warm up time! (I see lower MPG the first 15 miles)

Isn't the Prius a mid-size car? Some of my buddies are telling me it's considered a compact car. We traded in a Corolla on this car since we needed to get a bigger car. It was between this and a Camry.

Congratulations on your purchase. We got our 09 a couple of weeks back. The Prius is a tad smaller compared to a Camry and of course has a much smaller engine. However, the ride is pretty much the same. Unless you have more than 2 people traveling, you shouldn't be falling short of power.

Care to share details of your deal?:)

The dealer had about 6-7 2009 Prius's left. They all were either black, silver (non with Nav, but they did have leather), or white which we chose due to the hot Texas summers.

They knocked off $3000 off sticker, we got the $1500 rebate, and we put $500 down. :) We traded in a 2008 Corolla S which is why they discounted what they did, to eat up the negative. We didn't mind as we needed a bigger car since we have a 10 month old and the back seat of the Corolla just didn't cut it when it came to other passengers, and her stroller took up ALL of the trunk. Plus my wife has an 80 mile round trip commute every day.

I'm confused on something. Our Prius base price was $23k. On the sticker it says we have Package 5 which is $5k more. Every website I see says Package 5 is approx $1.8k more. What gives??

I bought a 2009 Prius Pkg 5 (non-touring model) in Jan. and if I remember correctly, the MSRP's on all of them were between $27,500 and $27,800 depending if they had included the 1st aid kit, all weather floor mats, rear bumper applique, cargo net or etc. I think dealer invoice was about $25,900.
My dealer had over 100 Prius's on the lot in Jan. so they were "dealing". I got mine for $24,300. I am quite happy with my Prius.
    Good luck with yours.
