Just discovered that the small vertical rear hatch window has defroster elements as well. For some reason I'm a bit (pleasantly) surprised.

Inside view while I had interior panels off to install backup camera system. The silver bracket on the right is the rear wiper.

Thanks for that Dean. Any tips on removing the panels? I haven't been brave enough to attempt it. Did you just put a screw drive in the little side slots and pry up?

    Thanks,
    G

I had seen a downloaded photo where the guy had changed out the bulb to a blue led, very cool but it is weird to reach into that area at night and see your arm illuminated.
When you use the wheel buttons at night there is a 3d thing that is more apparent at night then in daylight, it felt freaky the first time I noticed it, now I love it.

Another cool thing that I discovered today is that the passenger window is auto up and down like the driver side, I love not having to hold the button!!
Love driving with the SR open and the front windows open on a cool night or morning!

Nice info..., but I'm only "very impressed". ;)

I would be "extremely impressed" if you can tell us how many volts the panel is capable of producing with the sun directly overhead, and also what angle of inclination produces exactly 10 volts.

Furthermore, how does the system "detect" the available amps to power the fan at different speeds, or is the fan a continuously-variable-speed fan, rather than discrete speeds?

Trip B will be used to keep track of the miles on this oil change. I guess we will use Trip A for tracking miles and miles per gallon on a trip... any trip even between fillups.

This is insane!!! I bought a car to get me from point A to point B and since I was replacing a 2002 Prius, the latest Prius was the obvious choice. Since I admit to being a nerd, I love all of this. :)

Quite easy. Although I gulped while doing it initially.

The lower inner hatch panel has a 1" slot up about 10" from the bottom. Perhaps 1/8" gap between the plastic panel and the metal. That was the clue for removal. I slipped a thin putty knife over the metal, another under the plastic panel and sandwiched a thick flat-blade screwdriver and twisted. The panel popped out in that area. There's a plastic clip about 1" inside the gap. Then it's a matter of getting your fingers between the hatch metal and the panel and gingerly pulling a bit and the other clips will pop out of the holes in the hatch metal.

All the hatch panels had about 20 of these clips and each one stayed with the panel when pulled out, and none broke. And reinstalling is a matter of aligning and punching in the panel till the clips reattach. You will no doubt see the nice job of cabling and positioning - and assembly. Everything was picture-perfect. Way to go Toyota.

In case anyone has not seen it, there is a card holder just above the hood release. Very handy - nice touch.

The hatch closes with just the right force when you lightly move it past the spring center. We used to have to slam or apply pressure on our 06 hatch.

It has nothing to do with safety. It is not a spotlight. It is an LED light, which is the new standard of cool in vehicles. Hence the LED headlights on the Prius V. There is also an LED light above the headlights on the Prius IV that shines upward. As well as red LED lights way under the dash that shine on your feet.

    LED=Future of automobile lighting.

Is red the standard color for the lights by your feet?

If anyone has be pictures of a IV's headlights on at night, I'd like to see closeups of the LED light that LAPRiusIV20 mentioned.
And some of the feet lights!

Are the feet lights located just up front or in the back also?

These are taken w/ iPhone 3GS... I could only get a direct photo of the red LED, it was too dark to show the light hitting the floor mats.

I took 2 photos of the headlights. One with them on and the other with only the parking lights on. The LED's are visible in both modes.

    Awesome. Thanks for the pics.
Are the foor lights located only up front driver/passenger or are they in the rear too?

Do you know if they are red for all body colors?

They are only up front. Not sure about the color but there is a great website that I used for my Tahoe. I can't post links since I am a jr. member so I will spell it out for everybody.....

You have to know the number of the bulb you want to replace.

Has anyone out there swapped out the headlights yet?

That will probably be the first thing I do when I get my car.

I will be putting in a set of HID headlamps, but don't know the bulb type.
Does anyone know what type of socket the stock headlamps are?

Where is this card holder? I just looked all over. I have a lot of buttons above my hood release.

Here's a pic of the card holder.

Also one of the HUD. Notice it cannot be seen against a very light/white background.
