Headlights off while engine running?

Is there a way to turn the headlights off while my 2003 car is on? I took my kids to the drive-in last night and not only did I not relish the idea of draining my battery by using the radio for an hour and a half with car off, I also did not want to be rude and flash my headlights at the screen by turning the car on. It also would have been nice to have the A/C running as we were steaming up the inside of the car, but with the windows open we were being eaten alive by skeeters. HELP!!

 

Thanks for the suggestion, Bob. I just now went out and tried it but it didn't work. My daytime running lights come on when the car is running, even with the parking break on (which I kind of new would be the case because when parked at the drive-in, they came on when i started the car to roll the windows down).

Boy do I feel dumb. I got in the car to run errands and realized after starting the car that my headlight switch was on so I turned it off. It hit me then: I left the emergency brake on and got out of the car to look. Headlights were off! I never tried turning the switch on or off when i went out to test it after your post and I never switched it off when we were at the drive-in! Now I know... Thanks again, Bob. =)
