Wheel & Tire Gurus Please Chime in...

    I need new wheels for the Prius for asthetic purposes :), and I found a set of BBS RXs(?) on CL but it's 5x114.3

    They are 5x114.3 in 18" form.

    Has anyone fitted 18"s in a Prius?

    Any lug conversions out there?

    If they are small mesh wheels, they are BBS RSs. (Full 3 piece, forged wheel).

    There are 5 x 120 > 5 x 114.3 conversions out there, but not 5 x 100 > 114 that i have seen. But also remember 5 x 114.3 is the most common japanese bolt pattern, so it's best to redrill or convert the hubs to proper PCD.

    If you use an adapter you have to watch the size and offset to take into consideration the 25-35 mm the adapter will have on top fo the hub.

    18s on a prius should not be hard to do. You might need to roll the fenders a little.

    But, if you are considering 3 piece, and don't mind buying a new set of wheels (or saving for a set), many companies can make whatever sizes you want in a 5 x 100 size.

    Thanks for the insight FuelSpender. I'm pretty sure they are BBS RK's and they were on a Toyota Avalon. The deal on these are too good to be true, and I am trying to justify the expense on wheel adapters for these wheels (if it is indeed possible to make them fit properly).

    The wheels look like this:

    Also, I found a link to these. Will I need hubcentric rings?

    5-LUG TO 5-LUG ADAPTERS

    They are 5x100 to 5x4.5" (5x114.3) Adapters.

    I am going to find out the spacing on these adapters, as they seem they will push the offset substantially (make the wheels poke more towards the fender).

    Any input will be appreciated, so flame on!!

    I think, with the looks of those wheels, maybe an adapter cannot hurt it because the offsets look pretty conservative. It could maybe help make the wheel sit a bit more flush.

    Depending on how big the adapter is, you might need to run longer studs (ARP makes these, and they are not too expensive).

    i am using 19x8, 5x100, deep dish split six spoke rims rolling on 215/35/19 Falken 452's

    VERY FLUSHED.... very nice.... rolled the rear fenders with a fender rolling tool.... i'm sitting on coilovers and I'm definitely sitting tighter than "lowering spring" height. Once in a while, when i hit uneven road, i hear the fronts scrapping a little but it's ok.... the trade off for the amazing aesthetics is worth everything. AND we're supposed to be always on hypermilling mode, so no heavy foot = seeing the bumps before we hit them.... (hopefully)...

    2 examples.... a 19" set up and a 20"....

    very good symmetry and flushed...

    in my case, my rear fenders are rolled.... no rub at all.... i am also on Tanabe coilovers... i will post pictures after the tints are put in....

    What kind of rims are these? The first pic (powder coated with chrome rim)?

    Because I saw this exact same rim the other day on a magnetic grey Prius while I was driving and it was SICK! Thanks.
