I put a deposit down on July 4th, and got a phone call today saying that something was allocated to the dealership and it should be hitting the port on the 30th of this month.

I am getting a IV with the solar/sunroof.
My first choice was Blizzard Pearl with bisque (then dark gray, then light gray) interior.
My second choice was Winter Gray Metallica with dark gray (then light gray) interior.

So I get a phone call today saying that he will be getting a Winter Gray IV, with solar/sunroof, floor mats, with dark gray interior.

I was really wanting to get the Blizzard Pearl, so that the solar ventilation will be most effective (taking into consideration the light body color and the sunshine), but hopefully the Winter Gray's difference won't be that great.

I'm trying to be as positive as possible and come up with some practical reasons for getting the Winter Gray over the Blizzard Pearl, and I've come up with a few so far... so I'm not really that bummed about the Blizzard Pearl never showing up.

I just sold a Scion tC that I've had for about a year and a half. Its color was "Flint Mica"... along the lines of Winter Gray Metallic. I was hoping to switch into something of a lighter color, but I really liked the dark gray/blue kinda feeling, so I'm cool with the Winter Gray.

So, if everything stays on schedule, it should be at the port in a week, and I was told it should arrive here a few days after that.

If anybody has any good pics of a Winter Gray IV with solar roof, I'd really like to see some pics.
Cross your fingers for me and hope that no strange problems or delays arrise!

You're gonna like it! I'm on pins & needles waiting for cash for clunkers to roll. My IV in winter gray (no SR) arrived at the dealer on Tues. We looked it over that afternoon/evening before it was prepped because we couldn't wait. Yesterday we took it for a nice 'test drive', getting back to the dealer an hour or so later<g>. We'd had BP on the list too, but the grey color really grows on you. It has alot of blue in it. Funny - I've only had 1 Gen3 sighting, a silver parked in town. Today I saw a winter grey coming across an intersection. It had real state plates so I knew it wasn't mine (my dealer wouldn't let someone take mine out anyway).

I think Danny's has a sunroof. You can also see the comparison to the metallic grey:

I'd go for the gray over the white any day. That was one of the two colors I really wanted (I got the other one--blue).

The gray is really classy looking. The blue was a bit more fun. The white--you'd be washing it weekly and, well, white cars are white cars.

    Congrats!

    Nice.:)
I saw that pic the other day. It's really nice to see it next to the older gray color. I've seen the Winter Gray in person, but not with the sunroof.
I really like the look of the black roof contrasting on the Blizzard Pearl body... and I really liked the idea of the white color, making the solar ventilation/remote air conditioning work even more efficiently... but I'm sure I'll be happy with the Winter Gray.

I usually wash my cars at least once a week anyway ;)
I'm a bit fanatical about that.
The more I think about it, I remember back when I had a white car several years ago. I do a lot of interstate driving, commuting to and from school... and those damn bugs can be a real pain during parts of the year.

As I mentioned in my other post, I wonder how much of a difference the Winter Gray will make compared to Blizzard Pearl, when it comes to absorbing more light and creating more heat inside the car.
They are pretty far from each other on the color spectrum, I'm just hoping that the solar ventilation does a good enough job to not make the difference noticeable.

Does anyone want to comment on the solar ventilation on a white vehicle compared to the solar ventilation on a Winter Gray or Black vehicle?? I'm really curious to know how much of a difference there is.

The solar ventilation system on the blue works great, even in 90 degree humid weather.

BTW, the ventilation system works the same in all colors.

Now, I won't even step into the argument regarding whether the INTERIOR of a light car is really that much hotter than the INTERIOR of a dark car. Keep in mind that the roof color is the same on all of them.

    That's good to hear ;)
I figured it worked well, but worked best on Blizzard Pearl because the lightest color. I haven't seen the ventilation in action, so I'm not really sure if it's powerful enough to overcome the heat difference brought on by darker colors.

Congrats nola!! I'll just toss this into the mix: I have discovered that while sitting in the car - you can't see the exterior color! I'm tall and even when I strain up in the seat, I can't see the hood. So if you're 50/50 on color - I'm sure you'll be happy. Enjoy it!

Hey Congrats!! Yes. The gray is really the way to go. The white will show all the dirt and you really only notice the "pearl" when you get up close. The gray is very cool.

    Thanks a lot, y'all. :)
I was just concerned (more curious) about how much cooler the Blizzard Pearl with ventilation would be when out in sun, compared to the Winter Gray with ventilation when out in the sun. It tends to get very hot and very humid here during the summer months, so I'm sure the ventilation system will be a much appreciated step up, regardless of what color car I end up with.

One question for anyone that can answer...
I know that the remote engine start will turn on the A/C or heater at whatever temperature it was left at, but with the "remote A/C" that comes with the solar roof, will it do the same? (as in will it also function as a "remote heater" if I last left it on heat? Will it A/C at the last set temperature or will it start cooling at some default temp setting?

Now begins the real wait for me... that final, annoying countdown.
I will most certainly take a buttload of pics to show it off here, to hopefully scratch any other antsy buyers' itches to see a Winter Gray IV with sunroof and dark gray interior.

    Thanks again ;)

Solar roof only ventilates the car, doesn't use heat or A/C, it just runs the fan, so that outside air keeps the inside temp lower, so its not like an oven inside the car.

Thanks, but I already knew that. ;)

My first question was about how well the solar ventilation cools a dark colored car compared to a white car.

My second question was about the remote A/C function, and whether or not it only operates at one temperature setting, or if it used whatever temperature setting the system was last set at. (which would mean it could possibly also serve as a "remote heater" ?)

Like you, I was hoping the remote AC might operate as a remote heater - I've been promised it will not. There's a couple of threads around here with that subject. <I know, bummer!>

Since the vent system pushes the ambient (outside) air around, it will keep pushing to get the car to that temp. My guess is that if a dark car is significantly warmer inside, it will take longer to get it to ambient levels. When I returned to my silver car with dark gray interior that had been out in the sun for about an hour, it was hotter inside than out, but the fans were going and I'm sure it was cooler than if there was no ventilation. At least it wasn't like a furnace blast when I opened the door!

PS. I'm originally a BRLA (that looks wierd) and love your town!

My first choice was winter grey, but the day I went to the dealership it was almost 100 degrees outside (at Lakeside Toyota during that freak heat spell we had in June). I opened the door to the winter gray and it felt like I had just opened an electric oven. I decided to open the door on a blizzard pearl and it was surprisingly comfortable inside (still warm, but no where near as hot as the interior of the winter gray). I still think the winter gray is prettier, but I drove home in a blizzard pearl that day.

*Edit* and the blizzard is surprisingly easy to keep clean. I think the pearl effect hides minor dirt and dust quite well.

Hopefully the Winter Gray had been sitting out there for a lot longer... but probably not.
Like I said earlier, I'm coming from a car that is very similar in color to the Winter Gray, so I'm used to dark colored cars in the heat here. I just hope that the ventilation makes a big enough difference.

Those were my choices, too! My daughter's pressured me to up the blue to the number one choice and I succumbed...

This is funny. I am trying the shotgun approach and have placed orders with 4 dealers in my area! (Because package IV with solar is really hard to get here.) :D My first choice is blizzard pearl, second is blue ribborn, and 3rd is winter grey. I think the winter grey will come in the soonest. I have seen both BP and BR with the solar, but not the WG -- although I've seen it without.

It the WG does come in first, I hope I like it enough to go with it!

    Go with the Blizzard Pearl!!!
I wished I had. I chose the Blue Ribbon Metallic but I live on the end of a 1 mile dirt road and the blue shows the dirt horribly. I've had a white van since 1998 and that is why I wanted something else. The white does not show the dirt any where near as bad as any other color... and this is the nicest white I have ever seen!!
Unfortunately, I have become a dirty car "expert".

BUT, any color you get it's still a great car!!!:cheer2:
