Hello everyone here at the Priuschat community! I've been browsing these forums for quite some time before I actually registered, and then I finally decided to sign up. Anyways, I have learned many things about the car before it was actually purchased thanks to you guys here at Priuschat. This really is a one of a kind community we have here. Anyways, onto the real subject of the matter..

I'm 17 years old and the whole idea of the Hybrid system fascinated me to a great extent. I thought the Generation II Prius was really neat. My neighbor had one and I thought it was great, and then here comes the Third Generation and that really made me say "woah..". About a week ago, I went to Bill Penny Toyota here in Huntsville, Alabama and saw only four Gen III Prius on the lot. When I asked about them well.. they are already sold. They had some on order so I threw down a deposit and since then I have been waiting.. semi-patently. Today, the phone rang and I jumped out of my seat and picked up my brand new Third Generation 2010 Toyota Prius!

It came with 3 miles on the odo, but that's no issue. The car drives great, and I'm loving the mileage so far! I'm averaging in the 50's every trip (coming from someone who drove a suburban for quite some time...). Extremely nice ride and features and such.

My experience at Bill Penny couldn't have been any better. I highly suggest if you live in the North Alabama region to definitely check them out.

Now.. the best part. The Pictures!

Sweet. Yours is cleaner than mine. Two and a half weeks with rain and mine is ready for a washing.

    Enjoy!

It was actually starting to rain as I drove it home! It's been raining all day here in Alabama on and off. I hope tomorrow will clear up so I can explore the car some more. It's okay to wash the car after a few days that I got it correct? It's just the waxing that has to wait - hence the paint.

You can wash as much as necessary, but wait at least 30 days to wax. Your paint is especially vulnerable before its first wax, so remember to wipe off bug splatters every other day or so.

BTW, excellent color choice. (and that's one ritzy looking toyota dealership)

Ahh okay, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the information. About the dealership.. I assume you mean "ritzy" as in a cheap-o-ish dealership right? Well, it's been there for quite sometime and that wasn't the best shot I probably have gotten of it. It is getting re-modeled/re-done here in the next few months so maybe it wont look so "ritzy" once it's all completed. I really like the Blizzard Pearl!

I think he meant the exact opposite by "ritzy."

edit - And BTW, nice Prius! ;) I was gonna get a Blizzard Pearl, but am ending up with a Winter Gray.

Awesome looking. It looks so much nicer without front license plate. Wish California didn't require it (not that it stops me from not putting it on, but it would prevent ugly dealer-drilled holes).

When I was your age, my parents bought me a new 1990 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible also in white. Mustang is out, Prius is in.

Thanks man! I made sure they didn't put a front plate on mine, just in case the did by default (which they don't). It's kinda lame you HAVE to have it in California eh?

    Congrats on the car.

Regarding washing/waxing, you can do both immediately. Modern paints don't require the waiting period that used to exist.

Beautiful car, lovely colour ;), great pictures.

Got to say, when I was 17, I had a rusty old wreck, that drank more oil than petrol!:D
I'm sure that you will but look after your new car. :thumb:

Thanks! I appreciate it. I'll definitely look into some of those products!

Ahh okay, I remember that rule of thumb existed a while back, but wasn't sure it still did. Thanks for the confirmation. It rained yesterday so I wiped down the car with a micro-fiber cloth to get rid of some of the water spots/mud. Lookin' good!
Thanks Fujisan! I drove a suburban for a while and that sure hurt my wallet! Thanks to the Prius, it shouldn't do that anymore :p.

Congratulations!! Great pictures. At 17, you must be one of our youngest Priuschatters -- does anyone here know of anybody younger? enter your information in the two polls - the one asking you what 2010 you have and the other one asking about age and color?

:cheer2: I have already completed the "what Prius you have poll" I'll go ahead and check out the age/color one now!

I let a friend of mine who owns a '05 Prius drove my 2010. He loves it over the '05. Nice work Toyota!

I was thinking he same thing. (And as I have a Blizzard Prius V, I have to say that you picked a very nice color!) I would love to know if this is something that you are paying for yourself, while in school, or you had some help from your parents?

I am not asking to be overly personal, but I know that for me, at 17 a used crappy car was out of my league. Not until my mid 20's could i even afford to buy a decent used car. Luckily, my income has caught up, but I am very impressed that a 17 year old has a 2010 anything, let alone such a wise choice, as a Prius! Again, Congrats, and welcome to the Family! :welcome:

The summer before my senior year of high school, I started working my butt off to buy a mustang. By the time I graduated, I was able to save enough to pay the entire MSRP on a V6 mustang (only option was a spoiler). Mom and Pop paid the tax, title and license fees as a graduation present. I was 17.

If it hadn't been for hurricane Katrina, I'd probably still have that car today.

Thanks Tideland! Appreciate it. Your posts around the forum are abundant and are very helpful. Thanks again.
Shoot man, good things come to those that wait eh? I've always had a thing for Mustangs, but that kinda died down as I got older. It must have been a pretty fun car though eh?
Hey there, and thanks for the warm welcome! I really like the Blizzard Pearl color as well. I had a HUGE post typed out and then my browser flipped out and I lost it all and I don't feel like taking the effort to re-type it all. Basically, we originally were going to trade in my '98 Suburban for the $4500 voucher via the CARS program and have that assist in the funding of the new 2010 Prius. We decided the Suburban shouldn't be crushed and actually has potential for "dirty jobs" we may have to do and get that car dirty and not the new ones. I have a pretty good amount of money saved up from work and online businesses I have ran along with some other people, and some promotional work I do for FUZE/NOS - both are drinks. Of course, I am not funding this car entirely myself but, I did do a pretty large chunk of it so I am proud! Ultimately I'll be paying for the car in full, just not this moment. I hope that answers your question and appreciate the kind words!;)
