Very frustrated that this cannot be offered at all on the NAV system, when all the portable units on the market offer it, as do several in-car models & some car manufacturers include it on their NAV systems.
In Australia, Toyota has dictated to the nav/audio unit manufacturer to not include this FREE information. It is the case for ALL Toyota models.

I was wondering whether it is the same issue in Europe & America??

He's referring to speed cameras, which many countries use. They are automatic radar guns which clock your car, take a pic (including your license plate) if you're speeding, and mail you a ticket.

I discovered this "service" while living in Amsterdam years ago. There was one set up on the highway I took to work. Shortly after moving there, I got 2 "presents" in the mail in a matter of days. Being in Dutch, I had no idea what they were until a neighbor translated for us.

In the U.S. many nav systems include traffic signal monitoring camera locations. I've also received a "present" in the mail from one of these.

We call them photo radar, at least in California. I know of people who have gotten tickets from them and I've seen a news story on our local news about the San Jose program on this, including the van operator.

Apparently, it stopped per Traffic - Photo Radar and a what should be a copy of an article on this San Jose sued over dubious speeding tickets - DRIVERS FINED UNDER PHOTO-RADAR PROGRAM | Cheap Auto Insurance and Cheap Insurance for SR22. I also stumbled across this 1997 document that mentions cities that were using or testing the systems. Photo Radar

I've never known of an OEM nav system of any car (in the US) that has speed camera, photo radar or red light camera locations. I know Cobra has some PNDs with them though, like those at Cobra - GPS/Mobile Navigation.

I finally understand. But if the NAV told us where the speed traps were they wouldn't be traps, would they. :p

Everyone breaks road laws, whether 'intentionally or not'.
95% of the nav units in Australia have warning sounds for speed camera locations. Toyota are dragging the chain
