Well with the new Prius safely broken in it's time for another trip to install engine block heaters (and leave a bit of DNA). I'm looking to hit the New England area on Saturday August 15th and head down and through Virginia by the 16th.

This would be for any Generation Prius and Camry Hybrids. You must have an engine block heater ready for me to install, I do not supply them. The same heater fits all the above mentioned cars. I supply the ramps, tools and misc. items. These installs are free, I can't fathom the thought of anyone paying a couple of hundred dollars for something that takes 10 minutes. Please PM me if you want an install and I'll arrange a day/time with you. To expedite this I may ask some of you who are close together to get together in one spot.

If you need somewhere to hang your hat overnight, I'll leave the light on for you. That's assuming you don't mind an air mattress on the floor. Or even the floor itself. Hobbit seemed to find it rather comfy. :)

If your near Wheelersburg Ohio before 1:00pm either day your welcome to stop by. I have to be at work by 3:00pm both days. Heck if you near by after 11:00pm your welcome to spend the night. I to only have an air mattress but its off the floor.

I am still disgruntled that I missed Wayne's visit to Albuquerque.

First and foremost, it's great that you are taking the time and making the effort to help others on the site.

I live in S.E. Michigan -- and wonder if I could perhaps meet you in Toledo or thereabouts for an install. I don't have a heater in hand, but would order one immediately if you can fit me in. oh, and dinner / lunch are on me.

Where in New England are you going to be on the 15th? I've been sitting on an uninstalled BH for a year now....

Oh heck, your a day trip for me. Let me know when you get the heater and we'll arrange a day/time.

Sounds painful! PM me your exact location and I'll swing by your way. Always love going into NH.

I'll order one today and let you know when it comes in! Thanks very much, as I was having some difficulty finding someone to install. Dealer didn't want to, and nor did their favorite after-market shop.

Why does the Prius need an engine block heater? (I'm a newbe) and How does it work? Do you plug it in?

    Thanks,

Well there are plenty of threads on PriusChat describing the how and why of engine block heaters, do a search for them if your interested. Bottom line is you plug the heater in before your trip and you get the full hybrid system operation, with the increased MPG, sooner than if you didn't use it. And in winter you get faster warm air from the heater.

My block heater has arrived ... if you're heading east on Rt 80/90, I could meet you near a Toledo exit when you are leaving or returning in order to save you from going out of your way. Let me know what works for you -- thanks,

DH asks if you'd like to drive down to FL with him sunday night, to see the delta 5 launch monday morning.

edit: nevermind, i guess they cancelled it since he made the plans to drive down. :(

Barring any last minute changes the route is set. Out to MA and NH Friday, NJ Saturday, WV Sunday. Potential 7 heaters including at least one 2010.
