    acg101,

So in your post #55 you say that SET distribution HQ offered you a 2009 Prius for half price? What a discount!! I think I would jump on that in a minute & skip the 2010 altogether. But all the documents selling it for half price would have to show that in writing & be signed by them before I would put my signature on any paperwork.

    Glad your car arrived!

Those DMV fees seem high to me. Is that what everyone pays in FL?

    HOLY CRAP!!! That is CRAZY.

I am looking at my buyer's order and I paid $21 for Tag and Title Transfer (transfering the tag from my trade-in) . Even if you are not trading a car in and getting a new tag in Fl, its around $149 not $550. You better get that one knocked off. Also, make sure they aren't ripping you off with the $699 for Toyoguard.

    What about these other fees?

    $149 processing fee
    $149 DMV processing
    $220 DMV title

That adds up to $518 (of which they discounted $120) = $398 sounds like pure profit for the dealer, plus they are forcing $198 anti theft. Did they charge you for Toyoguard? Because from the sounds of it, this dealer likes to load up some crap on their cars.

The tried charging for Toyoguard but we refused. I wish buying a car was not such a stressful and negative experience.

    Thanks for the input

I agree with you, what part of Florida are you in? Also, when do you get the car?

Quick summary of my experience in North Florida:

    1) First dealer (Coggin at the Avenues): Nice at first and knowledgeable. When it came to negotiations, their cars were loaded with extras and not willing to budge. Also, real lowballers on trade-in.

    2) Second dealer (Arlington Toyota): We went to them after Coggin to see if they could find the car we wanted. The salesguy saw he wasn't going to make a sale that day (they didn't have the color combo we wanted) and literally handed us our keys back on our trade-in and sent us away. We were in shock as I already had pre-approval from my bank in hand.

(We were about to give up and then I started browsing the SET site and locating the car we wanted)

    3) Third dealer (Valdosta Toyota 2 hours from Jax): They had the Prius we wanted allocated to them but on the ship. Called them and told them what we went through. Gave him the numbers I needed to be at to make the deal and within an hour he sent me a buyer's order. The money was $1k too high, called him back an told him that and he met my price. Two weeks later the car came in and we drove there to pick it up. Best experience in a dealer by FAR!!!!

I called Toyota Customer Service about Arlington Toyota and how terrible that experience was. Arlington called within 3 days and wanted to sell me any car at Invoice. I told them that I was not interested, Valdosta did all the right things from day 1.

We are located in Ft Lauderdale but we got the car from a dealer in NJ. We had similar experiences with more than one dealer. We were frustrated and subseqently called Toyota HQ in California and in NYC which directed us to the "main distributors".

After over 3 months of horrible BS, it sees that it is almost over.
The car is here and although they loaded the car with features we did not want, after HQ intervention we got (mostly) what we wanted in terms of options (but not in terms of dealer fees).

Understandable, so the car is officially yours and in your posession? If so, quit the bitching and start enjoying/ taking pictures of it!!! Otherwise, I'll drive down and take your wheels. :)
