Scott, did you try building a car with a PA or DE zip code? Also try a RI or MA zip code. Using a NJ zip & these 2 will cover 3 regions. If the car still isn't available you'll have to travel farther or wait. It seems the auto market has recovered enough that dealers can't be bothered to find or order a car, presuming you are making a firm commitment.

Scott - You may have to do some fast and extensive searching to find one that's already landed. It seems that they woefully underestimated the popularity of the sunroof. I can't believe I'm still seeing the TV commercial for it - doesn't that just create frustrated buyers? Good Luck!

scottwyden, you might have to be a bit flexable on the interior/exterior color. When you call the dealers ask for the SR, but not in specific color. See if the response is any different.

I bought mine from Hudson Toyota back in mid-July right off the laught. IV with SR. No waiting list, etc - but i paid MSRP. I know Hudson Toyota has a bad reputation, but I worked with Jean-Rock and he was good to me.
also, there is a dealership down in Langhorne, PA that had a couple in back a few weeks ago.

    good luck

I called Hudson to see what they can do. Didn't give my color option but I am dead set on the blue.

Well then you may be waiting for a couple of months, in which case I wouldn't post and bitch about it.

It's already been a couple of months. It's not about the wait. It's about the dealer lying to me

That's the place I can't stand. Someone from there stole my identity and the second time I went there I was treated very poorly.

Another note about Hudson Toyota, they get an F rating from the BBB.

I'd rather wait a year for my car than ever set foot there again.

While that sucks - that could happen anywhere. They are the #1 dealer in Jersey (as far as volume). I agree that they aren't the most warm and fuzzy dealership, but more volume means more cars which means more Prius' with SR. that's just how it works.

Ha! that's funny. I think I bought the last one of those 5 on 07/07! Jean-Rock told me about 5 of the same exact Prius IV + SR sitting around (silver, etc, etc)

The whole "they aren't making them yet" line really bugs me too. I got the same thing when asking about a III w/NAV at a few dealerships. Does Toyota train them to say those things? I know people say maybe they do not really know, but how hard is it for them to do some research and see, yes this does exist. It's very frustrating for the educated consumer.

i have a IV solar in blz prl - like the car in the commercial pulling the sun

i ordered mine in april and also put two other refundable deposits down. i had a preferred color but I also said three other colors i would take

i ended up seeing a IV solar announced in early June as incoming, here on priuschat. Five minutes after that post hit here, i was on the phone to stefcat at Koons Easton MD (120 miles away) buying the car. It arrived at the end of June.

I would bet if i hadn't been as lucky as i was that i would still maybe be waiting.

So my point is - don't worry about any perceived loyalties to a particular dealer - somebody will buy any cars they get. Look out for yourself. Contact dealers far and wide. Be ready to travel (Maggie May drove from Mass to Maryland) for what you want.

Hi Fred! ...And I had a deposit with another dealer at the time. That dealer was a straight shooter and told me it would be a tough car to get - he was very upfront with me and he very promptly refunded the deposit when I secured the car in MD. (Call Stef !)

I just got a call from the Internet Sales Manager at the dealer. She apologized a lot and said they made a call to the regional manager. She said she hopes to call me back with news later this afternoon if not tomorrow. We shall see.

I live in upstate N.Y. and was also waiting for a IV Solar. I made a couple of contacts on the internet, had 2 deposits down at 2 different dealerships and finally got a call from Dennis at R & H Toyota in Owings Mills Md. that he had a car for me. I flew there and drove the car home in the same day. It was well worth it! They still don't have any IV Solars in my area yet. Don't be a slave you your salesman!
