Let's not forget that markderail also accused you of actually being Jack posting with a fake ID:rolleyes: and was going to have Danny check your IP addresses to see if they were the same.

Some people are never happy unless they make other people miserable with there negative BS. He seems to be manic now.

LOL other way around, PlugMeIn2 Joanna thought I had accused her for the spam, then I had to double-back and look at my PM's to see who had really sent it, and fix my reply about a day later.

Then asked Danny to clean it up. Of course by then, most of you had read it. I only found out later Jack had been banned, and immediately asked why/bring him back. Haven't heard back from Danny yet. Maybe he'll just post here about it.

FWIW, I had never asked Jack for info, nor was I going to anytime soon. I'm on a 4 year lease with TMC, nobody except TMC touches it.

I'm waiting until next year, when out of my lease and officially bought my Prius G2, to make a PHEV upgrade.

The *best* system will win my money - and it's looking a lot like Enginer.us right now, because of it's price. Also because I do low mileage, most other PHEV's are overkill for my use.
(EV-8 would get me to my office)

Time will tell. Till then, bash all you like, ya big guard dog, :D coming to a damsel's distress like you did.

Suggestion: Make a POLL asking for Jack back. I sure as heck won't start it ;)

Give these guys a break. I have personally met Jack Chen and by all indications he is a decent guy, trying to introduce a good product into the marketplace. He appears to be a Chinese immigrant and he does speak English with a heavy accent. However, he has been very nice and sincere and has, in my opinion, a very legitimate desire to do the right thing with his business.

I'm sure that his web site text was written by Jack. I agree it could have been proof read better.

I vote for giving Jack the benefit of the doubt and allowing him back in PC. A warning would have been sufficient, as far as the "spamming" issue.

    Edits

    (repost from above)

EDIT2: Jack ended up getting banned, which pretty much everyone agrees was too strong a measure, so he cannot "clear things up". This makes for a very one-sided argument. Myself included, asked Danny to allow him back.

EDIT3: Surely some reasons so many "new" people arrived on PC just to talk about this PHEV system, it's low price and a $500 price reduction in exchange for being "beta" (though beta term was never used) testers or "test pilots".

It's easy to take this one step further, that Jack asked them to be vocal about it on the Internet. However, this is pure conjecture on my part, and this view is shared by others on PC.

Advice for the new Enginer PHEV owners - quit bitching - be happy for your purchase and DOCUMENT everything online here on PC, and support will grow naturally.

Some have been doing that and have received THANKS which is the best reputation system, better than the total number of posts.

Proof that Jack is reading / getting some of this info - his website was recently updated - typo's have been fixed - and he's doing a DEMO at Long Beach Hybrid Expo. :cheer2: (not Long Island - my typo)

To Jack Chen: Sorry for the ruckus - however the saying: all publicity is good publicity, is true. I think *everyone* knows about your product now! Full disclosure to PC (PriusChat) and some $$$ support in the form of a banner campaign means PC remains alive, something we all want.

To Jack Chen 2: Get an installer on the East Coast by next year, so I can drive down from Montreal in one day, versus SIX days to get to LA.

I also emailed him on his site.

Actually, I emailed him a few days ago about the 11V typo. He fixed it the same day.

Here's the funny part: I'm not really interested in the PHEV so I haven't been watching these threads. The poll that went up was the first time I have heard anything about all this bruhaha.

Why is it so hard for people to follow relatively simple instructions? Evan, Jon and I are on these boards almost every day. Usually multiple times per day. And yet, I have not received a single PM regarding all this banning stuff. It's laughable to me that everyone assumes Danny did the banning. It was most likely one of us. And yet no one PMed us about it. Instead, you all have decided to make a public outcry. Usually, we're a very open group and we listen closely to people when they present their arguments. What really pisses us off is when we receive no such contact and then find a public poll calling us heavy handed and attempting to turn the entire forum against us.

In fact, that's not only annoying, it often just makes us spiteful.

OK people....first of all here's what happened..
A report is made that someone is spamming people via PMs. Turns out Mark went on a bit of a misdirected tirade and had been in contact with the company that sent the PM and he's the only one who got the PM.

I jumped on the first report to stop this notorious "spammer" from plastering the forum with more of this spam. This is SOP when we get a report like this. Then I went on vacation. Today Tony posts that there's a freaking poll to reinstate this person. Did a single person try to contact us??? Nope.
Guess what, I'm 16 PAGES of threads behind for the past 24 hours and didn't think I had any reason to read this thread again.
Mark, you should have PM'd us all and apologized for your over reaction and the misinterpretation that led to all this.
Joanna you should have PM'd us to explain what you knew the facts to be.
Anyone reading this thread should have reported it or PM'd us to make us aware of what the hell was going on.

Instead we banned an innocent, potential supporter and advertiser from the largest prius community in the world for about a week. I may not be innocent here, but I'd do the same thing again if it looked like this forum's members were being spammed via PM. But we need you guys to let us know when things need to be fixed or are not as they originally appeared.

Joanna, please make sure Jack sees this post and is made aware that he's been reinstated...with my personal apologies for the confusion and inconvenience.

Yes, I will make sure Jack sees your post and let him know he has been reinstated. I now know the proper procedures if an incident like this happens again on Prius Chat. Thank you for responding and resolving the problem. I know Jack will be grateful.

    Thanks again,

    JOANNA

Thanks, glad this is resolved, sorry (again) for the mishap. I've since contacted Jack Chen independently, and we've come to an agreement.

I will translate into French his Wiki site, there are quite a few Prius here in Quebec.

Besides myself, at least one other person is interested in PHEV next year.
Mark, you should have PM'd us all and apologized for your over reaction and the misinterpretation that led to all this.
It's funny how hard it was, at the time, to determine who are the mods. Even now, rather difficult to find a sticky with the Mod list.

Last point, it would help if people were more transparent with their relationship with the Enginer.us PHEV, how much they paid -vs- the rebate they got to be "test pilots". It would explain the sudden influx of "new" posters on PC that came out of the blue.

Full disclosure = better trust, and after all, you are the 'lucky' ones.
IMO the 500$ rebate is extremly generous! Had that been clear from the start, honestly, I would not have reacted the way I did.

I will be paying full price for my system, next year, even though I will have translated his site, because I can and I want to.

Had I been able to do it right now, and would have put in my Signature the "Test Pilot For PHEV Enginer.us" quite proudly, with a link back to a photo album or thread started by me.

PlugMeIn2 - Joanna - sorry especially to you, who got so involved, when it had nothing to do with you, just confusion.

    Jack, welcome back.

Mods, well, life is tough :) Sorry to you guys too.
