Yeah, the leaf vein graining on the dash goes with the ecological theme.

Borrowed from another thread but worth posting here. When closing the hatch, there is a "grab" handle on each side. Just pull down with a little momentum and let go and the hatch closes. No getting hands dirty or breaking parts from pushing the outside. Just make sure you get out of the way or you could be killed or seriously injured.:D

Hmm, perhaps his reaction time was impaired as depicted. What's that in his left hand? Weed?

I should read the manual more carefully...I had been under the assumption that I had several seconds after the HSA engaged before it disengaged automatically and so I wasn't engaging it until the car in front of me started to move...a very awkward technique. It turns out that the countdown to disengage doesn't start until after you take your foot off the brake, so you can engage it at any time.

There was discussion about Auto Headlight. Thing I found is that
    1) yes, it does switch off after 30 sec. provided Car was started and shut-off and then door was locked.
    OR
    2) If you just click Lock TWICE on keyfob, headlights will switch off.:p

I don't understand them. Why are they so universal when 99% of the time they serve to uglify the cars rather than their intended purpose? Surely there's easier under the body method.

That's how they are secured on ship.
Matter of fact, that's how ya tell a Japan-built Toyota from a domestic... no "cut out" area, no Japan car! They only use that for cars coming on ship. :)

I agree! Especially in a car where the stated idea is to have the best CD possible. I know this is probably negligible, but every little bit helps right?

Guess what. If you order or have installed a lazer cut clear bra from Venture shield it comes cut out for that spot and a small square piece fits right over the knockout. If you ever need to remove the knockout it wont screw up the rest of the bra.

One of the two front shipping eyebolts is stashed in the plastic holder on top the spare tire, so the user can re-install it for emergency towing.

For those with Remote Engine Start, you can turn OFF the vehicle after you've started it with the Remote Start and still keep the vehicle Locked!

You press the Lock button two times (within 2 seconds), then press the Lock button again and hold it for 3 seconds (or until the lights flash and the horn honks) and release it, the vehicle will start.

To STOP the vehicle and Unlock the doors you, Press the Unlock button once (the lights flash twice and the horn honks twice) and the Hybrid system is turned OFF and the doors are Unlocked.

However, if you want to STOP the Hybrid system (engine) but NOT unlock the doors you simply Press and HOLD the Unlcok button for 2 seconds, and the engine will STOP, but the doors remain Locked!

It's for the emergency towing eyelet that's in the trunk with the spare. Pages 487 to 489 of the manual explain how to pop that cover and install the emergency towing eyelet.

It's likely not used for securing during transport.

Although they can be used for emergency towing, they're also used for some purpose during transportation--see pic below of cars waiting for transportation in Japan. Every German car I've owned also had one.

I'm sure most of you probably know this, however, I just discovered there's a Lock button on the Rear Hatch next to the Rubber Release pad!

The first time I read the manual, it said to close the Hatch and press the Lock button to lock the vehicle. I assumed they ment to close the hatch and then press the Lock area on the front door handle. I thought that was a little strange to have to close the hatch and then walk around to the side of the car just to lock it, of course you could always use the Key Fob, but what if your hands were full of items you just retreaved from the cargo area?

After re-reading the manual again, I read the same passage that said to Press the Lock button when you closed the hatch, and it hit me, MAYBE there IS a Lock button back there!!!

I'm going to go look but I think the IV/SR model gave up that back lock which I do miss but I love my SR more!
