Why did you move the converter?

I figure I would just move the hardware to accomodate a 4kw system now instead of doing it later which would require me to remove the casing and etc. again. Just thinking ahead. But seems that I am right about it not being the same inverter. BTW, I did put back the service plug. It is dummy proof; it only goes in 1 way. Any other ideas besides the stealership?

Hey, it is the red triangle and it says "problem" on the MFD with the car icon that indicates hybrid problem.

OK, so you plugged it in, then rotated the lever 90 degrees, then pushed the lever down into place?

I found with my 2010, after I removed the Battery Service plug, when I restarted the car, the triangle came on the MFD and it said "Check Hybrid System". The car would run on the ICE only.

As soon as I powered the car off and on 3 times it cleared and worked normally and all errors cleared from the display

Give it a shot kammssss, I hope it helps.

These two stubs are for smartkey receiver module. You can either remove it or drill two holes in the bracket. We didn't know about it in our test vehicles and found out later on. We will ask the supplier to pre-drill the holes in the future.

The 4KWH batteries are shorter than 2KWH TS batteries and will fit without changing the converter position.

It is most likely the temperature over limit (about 150F) and the converter is shutdown by temperature protection logic. Staying in the parking garage is not good for heat dissipation :(

    Hey Guys,

I just got my car working. Just played around with the service plug a few times and started the car 3 times and it went away! Whoohoo! I don't have to drive my V12 to the installation seminar...LOL. Hey, be careful when removing the two 10mm nuts that fasten the HV cables. Mines was a little tight. I ended up twisting the metal hinges. Well, I am glad I don't have to reposition any hardware to accomodate 4kw of batteries. I wish I've would of known before hand. TTYL.

    Hey! Welcome back Jack!

Well, that was the problem ;)

I didn't have time to remove the old DC/DC, so I just ran the car without the top of the kit on. I was able to drive around and test it for a good while before I started hearing some really REALLY high pitched noises from the DC/DC. I started to notice this as the low battery LED was blinking at a random rate. Is this normal?

For those who ordered 4KWH system recently, the batteries are grey, from Mottcell, also a well-known Lithium Phosphate battery vendor. They specially designed and packaged their cylindrical LiFePO4 cells for Enginer's conversion kit so that the box is more compact and has more space for ventilation. One of our goals is making the kit universal with off-the-shelf components. It is possible to fit batteries from different vendors, even A123's :)

    Hey Guys,

Has Jack told anyone how long it is going to take for the NEW 4kw batteries to arrive? I hope the balancer will work well with the NEW batteries. I've ran into too many setbacks...maybe the third time will be a charm again.

Okay, the new DC/DC converter was installed this morning. (Like, actually mounted the way it should have been...)

I'm still experiencing some crazy overheating issues!! Also, I'm driving around the city as well. Anyone else having some heat issues?

Jack's entire team is at the conference in Long Beach. Once they get back the new shipment of batteries should have cleared customs. They should ship 8/14 or 8/15 if all goes according to plan.

I'd like to stress one thing: PICTURES & dedicated thread started by Jack :) from the Long Beach fair.

Hopefully in the next year he'll get demand for garage installs on the East coast so I can drive down and get mine next September.

FYI - Int'l shipping is not only double the $, I have to pay at 15% surtax on the declared value of the goods imported into Canada.

I honestly don't think driving into the US without a PHEV and coming back with one will raise any questions at the Canadian border crossing.

Hi guys. I'm at Long Beach and today is set up day in the hall. I'm not sure if I'll have a way to upload any photos from the event.

Berkeley's 3Prong Power is here at the Enginer Booth.

Enginer has the Mottcell set up in a box outside of the car so you can really see the system.

I just saw coverage of the Plug In Conference/Expo in Long Beach on the news on television. It looks like there are a lot of good displays there. I hope there's a high turn out from the public and a lot of people are inspired. :)
