Or, as a fighter pilot friend of mine said years ago: "no lifties in the air" ;)

Cabin temp was set at about 72/73, btw.

We searched the Owners Manual for info on the fan, but couldn't find it.

The service manual provides information on the battery pack and pack cooling fan

So that slot thingy on the passenger side of the rear seat is a vent? I thought it was a waste basket. I wonder what happened to all of those gum wrappers that I put in there?

Ah, but I was at Crater Lake, Oregon and the service manuals were back at home in California! ;)

Maybe they were shredded by the shredder, er, fan blades? ;)

I stand corrected. However, I do know the traction battery is under the rear seat...I simply misworded my statement. My statement about the fan was dead wrong.

I have a 2010 Prius IV with 900 miles on it. Today, in San Francisco it was 72ºF. We took a leasurely drive up to Twin Peaks, parked for 10 minutes to walk around, and drove back down the hill. Once we got onto the Freeway after driving around the flat lands for 20 minutes, the Vent Fan turned on...it was an odd noise, and lasted for about 10 minutes. Freaked me out at first as I thought the noise was the door or window not being closed, but realized what it was. So no, nothing is wrong with my car, and I'm sure the battery is fine after less than 1K miles.
