Now owners of a V can get a sunroof.

I just sent an email to an auto custom shop here in Nashville inquiring about the Webasto Hollandia 700. I will let you know what I found out with regards to costs and their opinion on quality.

The 2003 Honda Pilot did not have any factory sunroof options available. I had a Webasto sunroof put in it. I like my IV without one just fine.

Would someone investigating a Webasto sunroof option find out if it's possible to fit a Hollandia 900 instead of a 700? That's a way better sunroof.

If the Gen III roof structure is the same as the Gen II's (ribbed, with lots of curves), I think the biggest problem people will face regarding an aftermarket sunroof is finding an installer that is:

    (a) competent,

    (b) willing to install a sunroof on a Prius, and

    (c) experienced with installing a sunroof on a Prius.

I did have a Webasto Hollandia installed in my GMC work truck 5 years ago and works great
But the cost has $1300 5 years ago, and must have gone up since then
And it does not as good and the factory installed

Thanks for the info - Webasto has been making high-quality sunroofs for years, supplying both OEM and aftermarket sunroofs for Mercedes-Benz. Both of my Mercedes S-class sedans had Webasto sunroofs and they worked flawlessly for 25 years. I agree with others that the key will be in finding a competent installer. It does sound like this might be a viable option.

I think the fact that 99.9% of moonroof installers won't install a moonroof on a Gen II speaks for itself: IT IS UNWISE TO DO SO AND YOU WILL REGRET IT OVER TIME AS THEY ALL SEEM TO SINK IN

However, the roof of the Gen III obviously doesn't have those aerodynamic 'kinks' that the Gen II had, so perhaps it is perfectly safe to install an aftermarket moonroof on the Gen III.

Webasto makes great moonroofs, and for only around $250, you can get a tiny sensor put in the windshield near your rearview mirror that will close the moonroof if it detects rain. I had the sensor installed along with the moonroof on my sisters corolla and it has saved her interior as she often either doesn't realize the storm has arrived, or forgot that the moonroof was open, or FELL ASLEEP!!

Gen III roof looks the same as the Gen II roof.

2010 out well over a year now.
Anyone out there take the plunge and have an aftermarket sunroof installed?
Or anyone do research and have fresh (good or bad) info?

Coach Auto Restylers does these pretty often (they're here and their in the US). I asked them about it - all work is warrantied - and it looks good) - not sure the brand used.

The downside is autoclose (or maybe it was auto open) - in one direction it is basically manual - you have to hold the button till it's closed.
