    My III was a "new" manager's demo with 3,400 miles on it and the dealer wanted MSRP (which was ridiculous). I was only able to get them to knock $2,000 off so I would imagine you should be able to get pretty close to MSRP if there are only 500 miles on yours, especially if dealers are charging a premium on the V.

    The dealer may be looking to make an even bigger profit. In Arkansas, it is against the law to sell new cars for more than the sticker price. That doesn't apply to used cars. I had a salesman explain that to me as I was driving a 2009 used demo that was priced above the list price of new 2009's. There were no new 2009's on his lot. I walked.

    I was talking to the local Toyota dealer and he told me that the soonest he would be able to get a V would be 4-6 months and he's even out of the all Prius models and he'll be lucky to get any for a while. I will put it on ebay with a reserve of what I was offered from the 3 dealers and I will have the auction for 3 days and if it didn't sell then I will take it to the dealer next Tuesday.

    Doody,

    You can totally sell this car for MSRP or just a few dollars less. Don't worry about the CFC bubble. It will take a few weeks (if not more) for the supply to catch back up with demand. Inventory will be very low to non-existant for at least the next month.

    This car is in high demand -- you can get very close to MSRP for it...

    Thanks Bryan, I just want to minimize my loss, I'm willing to lose up to $1500 and the offers I got so far are getting too close to that point and as soon as it gets to that, I will sell unless I get lucky and get a better offer.

    Last time I sold something simillar to that price, I paid $149 ebay fees. That was about 2 years ago, I don't know if it's still the same or went up.

    I just reached 30k miles on my prius and I'm considering changing the air filter and the vent filter inside the car myself because times are hard right now. Has anyone done it? If so how do I change the interior vent? Thanks in advance for advice/help

    I have a 2004 and I always go over the weight limit. My wife and I combined weigh 914 pounds and the mileage is still in the low 40's. It is a shame to load a Lexus with all that weight. Keep the Prius. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how efficient it is even when overloaded. Okay.. got to go out and buy a few pizzas for dinner. Just don't know what my wife is going to have.

    I just wanted to thank everybody who replied with encouraging comments and let them know that I sold the car back to the dealer for only $400 less than what I paid. And the dealer was very friendly that they gave me 6 free oil changes and filter for the Lexus to make it up for me for the $400. Now for those who are wasting their life with jealousy and envy for others who works hard enough and make more money and get rewarded for their hard work while others look at them and make same stupid comments every time. Those has been ignored and it was proven to them once again that barking dogs never advance by barking. I got my money back and more. Thanks again.

    I know this is a moot point, since Doody already sold the car back, but, here it is for the record.

    According to the Owners Manual, the total load capacity of the 2010 Prius, which is the combined weight of the occupants, cargo, and luggage, is 825 lbs. So, he is correct that he cannot carry 800 lbs. of cargo, unless the driver weights 25 lbs. or less.

    Of course, there is nothing to say that you cannot exceed the specification, which I am sure people do all the time.

    Great news for you and glad to hear that gentlemen are rewarded! I just got up to spead on this thread so read through fast. My thoughts were 1) why were people saying Ebay when Craigs List is free (works for autos out here anyway) and 2) regarding the "statistics" regarding depreciation - once its used its used, as long as someone is going to keep it several years. If I could have found a private sale car for a couple of thousand less, in my backyard, I would have considered purchasing, as opposed to calling 50 dealers to find a blue III with no Nav and then taking two days off from work to go get it six hours away. The lost work days (2.5 including calling around) cost me more than $2,000 :D Whether I was first or second owner, in the real world it would have been depreciated!

    It is illegal to overload above the load limit for any car, truck, SUV or semi.
    If you get a blow out and get hurt, you cannot sue the tire manufacturer if you are found over the load limit.

    What are you going to drive that has a significantly higher max. load capacity? 825 lbs. is not that that atypical compared to other medium sized passenger cars. You're going to have likely go w/a medium sized SUV or greater.

    There was chatter about the 810 lb. max weight of the 2nd gen at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/20812-810-pounds-maximum-weight.html and some other threads I can't find anymore. I also posted a table and that's all gone now. :(

    My 2009 Camry XLE v6 that I am trading in for a Prius V AT is only 900 lbs.

    I did not realize that until I just looked at it now.

    So for future people reading this I do not think this is that big of a problem at all! Most cars seem to be around this anyway.
