I've had an order in for a Prius with the solar package for several months. I'm told I'm #1 on the waiting list. Nothing yet. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have but I was waiting for Safety Connect. Now that it's available, my dealer hasn't been able to get the allocation.

I have watched some Prii sold to customers that walk in when there is a waiting list at my dealership. I was one, I bought the car off of the lot, was on no list and a list existed. Not saying your dealer would do this, but mine does.
Why would you want the solar package in Buffalo NY? Just curious, I see it as additional weight, probably reduces the structual integrity, and a source for potential leaks, but if I lived in say Arizona, I would think differently.

I have been on a waiting list for 3 months now for SR, and yes many have passed across the dealers lot but only 2 with the Solar Roof. I was 14 on the list on June 2nd and now I am 3 down from the top.

Actually in my opinion the solar roof is more beneficial in some ways in the north then in the south west. If the ambient air temp is lower like say 75 F the inside of the car will benefit substantially when sitting out in the sun. The inside should remain quite comfortable. if the outside air is 100 F then the car is still going to be quite hot even with the SR running.

Anyway I just wanted the sun roof period solar or not. I have had a sun roof on most of the cars I have owned. With the tilt feature you can ride with free flowing air flow that doesn't blast you out of the car like it does with the windows down at highway speeds. It may actually save fuel when compared to running the AC. No matter weather it does or not I just don't need AC when I can have fresh air flowing that is often cool enough here in ohio in the spring and fall. Where as if you go with the windows rolled up the car heats up due to solar heating and the other alternative is to run the AC.
