Do you know what Honda Insight owners are talking about recently?

Not to beat a dead horse, but in a thread accusing Insight owners of bashing Toyota it is more than a bit ironic that the Insight ends up getting bashed so harshly.

We test drove both the Prius II and Insight EX. On paper we were virtually certain we would buy the Prius. I'm sure we would have been pleased with either but we just liked the Insight better. I don't hesitate to tell people the reasons I love our car but I also don't bash the Prius in doing so.

I'm sure all of us are happy that there are now some really nice high mileage cars to choose from. I think it is counter productive to pick at the competition.

Nope, not a chance. We are like Methodists, and if someone is not from the same synod they are heathen bastards and they can burn in hell forever. I'd rather sleep with a Hummer driver.

    :D

Just kidding, of course, but we do get pretty silly with our petty alliances.

I'm starting a "Prius Owners Eat Puppies" thread over at Insight Central right now!

Both. The only thing I think doesn't make any sense on a brand new 2010 is the computer overestimating the gas mileage by 3 mpg better on the computer than what you're actually getting on some. Some rave about the high technology yet Toyota is 3 mpg off with that. I wouldn't be happy looking at the consumption screen being that far off.

You could also get a base smartcar for thousands less than Insight. I know the base smart is poorly equipped compared to the base Insight. You also sacrifice some room and fuel economy, as you do going from Prius to Insight. But it does make high fuel economy affordable.

Depends where you live and how much you're willing to search. We bought for less than that a couple weeks ago near the end of C4C. It was an advertised internet price and they honored it with no question or haggling. The price thread has stories of people with better deals even during the C4C shortage, as well as people who pay over MSRP because of supply in their area.

Thanks to the OP for pointing out that site. I howled when reading the thread. In my view, those people are coming off like Insight zealots who are ticked off that market forces (namely consumer preference) are driving Prius sales while, by pretty much any measure, the Insight is a dud. That's not my opinion, by the way, I thought that the Insight was decent enough when I tested it, though it definitely was down market in terms of quality and content.

That's wonderful, but as many of us can attest your blanket statement was WRONG. :D

Case in point: my GenII has had higher calculated than displayed mileage on 10 of 28 fills.

    We are noticing that...

Good for you, but the real question you should ask yourself is: What is more commom? Real higher than indicated or the other way around? Come on, give us a BREAK! And this is a 2010 Prius chat, which ALWAYS have indicated higher than real. Go to the MPG forum and check the data collected by Bob if you care.

    So, who is WRONG MATE?

    To each his own.

    1. Everyone does not place the same value on the same things.
    2. The same thing can mean something different to different people.

So our choice is between endless arguments without resolving anything or just letting it go and everyone just enjoying their car. It should not be a difficult choice.

Or need to fit a normal sized adult in the rear seat exactly once...

The main problem many have with the Insight is that it is too small for our needs, making it a niche vehicle. For those whose needs fit the Insight, that isn't a problem. The extra ~10 cu.ft. of interior space in my '08 Prius gets used often enough that the Insight doesn't even get consideration.

I noticed an Insight in the Home Depot parking lot the other day and was struck by how short it was while standing next to it. It was an attractive little thing, but not as utilitarian.

I'll tell you this, If they re-introduce the original Insight, but update the technology I'd buy it in an instant. I'd love a little two seat, slightly sporty looking Hypermiler.
I don't need or want one car that fufills all of my needs, although the Prius comes close. I currently own everything from a Mazda Miata to a C-3500 Duramax Diesel pickup, neither of which I can see the Prius replacing.

Hey, you asked the question, I answered. With some forethought you would have known better than to ask the question if you weren't going to like the obvious answer.

Of course that's your problem now isn't it? You've got a lot of bad/narrow assumptions that just aren't panning out. These absolute statements you repeatedly make are easily proven false as in WRONG. Stop making the absolute statements that are easily disproven and you will have a far easier time of it.

p.s. How do you prefer to have your crow served? It looks like you want it hot rather than chilled.

I do not know, it's like with the TDI contingent, I've got no problem with them when they are doing their thing. But when they jump in my foxhole and try to shoot me...I shoot back.

One thing is for sure. Those G3 Prius owners were shagged! Overpriced, underperforming car for the fart smellers, I say. Get a G2 Prius if you want a *real* car.

    JUST KIDDING.
