2010 Cargo Net issues and resolution (panel separation)

    Precisely!! What exactly is supposed to happen to mine?

    I like the placement of the new hook, as compared to the place my first one was installed.

    I imagine that Toyota would just replace the entire plastic piece and go with the solution that's being implemented at the ports. It seems like the easiest and least expensive route to take.

    No, the easiest and least expensive route would be to put plastic plugs in the existing holes and add the new hooks. While I would prefer the other approach this one is what I expect given my experience with Toyota service so far.

    But the old hole is near/on the corner of the plastic. There's just no way to put a cover plug in.

    My new 2010 Prius arrived at the dealership last Monday, 8-24-07 and I picked it up on Thursday, 8-27. It also has the new style clips on it for the cargo net. One of of things I noticed on the net itself, however, was that the bottom elastic cording was very tight, seemed almost too short and this would also cause pulling on the upper attachment. Does anyone else's net seem really tight along the bottom? My last car (2000 Subaru Outback Wagon) also had a cargo net and it had a much looser fit. I'm actually thinking of trying to lengthen the bottom cord by adding another 2 inch piece of cording to relieve some of the stress. Thanks for any info.

    Congrats on the new Prius!

    I just went out and checked my cargo net, and the bottom bungie (and the bottom of the net) is not excessively tight. It's about the same tension as the top. I'd call it just about perfect.

    I wonder if you received a net that was manufactured wrong?

    Mine seems about right too if I hook it to the two loops in the cord. If I just hook the elastic cord to the hooks without using the loops it is a bit tight. The bottom of the net is narrower because it has clips that go to the steel rings in the floor on each side.

    Thanks for taking the time to look! I'm going to recheck my attachment again tomorrow. Hopefully it's only a user problem...

    Actually, I would expect Toyota to just add the new hooks and leave the original hooks in place. Saves them money on plastic plugs.

    My net is still on backorder, but I'll be sure to talk to the dealer about the revised mount when they go to install it. For now, we're using an old net and the four floor anchors. Works well for keeping packages in place - you just stretch the net over them.

    Given that my dealer drilled through two panels, mine works okay, but if there's an offer to remedy (including tasteful plugs), I'd still take them up on it so that it'd be a warranty approved solution.

    Wouldn't put it past them to issue a TSB to put stickers on the panels warning to NOT use those hooks. :p

    i received the JDM cargo floor net that hooks to the 4 existing cargo floor chrome rings. i will post some pics later this week.

    ordered it from Sigma Automotive. fyi.

    I took the picture of the new hooks to my dealer and they know nothing about them .
    They said they can not do a thing to this car till Toyoya gives the ok.
    So I have to wait for the hooks and some kind of help with the rearview mirror also.
    Is anyone elses dealer doing nothing till Toyota says so?:confused:

    My dealer in Smithtown Long Island won't do anything about the cargo hook problem either. They claimed they didn't even know about the problem until I showed it to them two weeks ago. Their response was not to use the cargo net until Toyota comes up with an official fix........which he said, "could take up to a year."
    I emailed the customer service manager a copy of some of the responses from this thread to let him know my Prius was not unique.
    The customer service manager said he will get back to me with an answer, but it has been over a week so I'll definitely call him this morning.

    While I was at my local dealer today ordering dealing with my another issue, I asked about this since it made sense to have it taken care of when I return to have the new window frame panels installed. The service manager said he had heard about it but Toyota had not issued any memo yet describing and/or authorizing a fix.

    So on the way home (using my nifty blue tooth car speaker), I called Toyota customer "care." When I asked/explained, the nice gentleman said "sorry you are having a problem with this." I said "I" am not the only one; everyone who bought an auto in July is having the problem. He transferred me to a specialist who told me she could find nothing on file about a problem or a fix.

    I said then how about refunding the cost of the port installed option of cargo net/first aid kit that I had to pay for but did not want ($80). There was silence :eek:.
