I'm considering selling my 2010 Prius. I recently moved to San Francisco and I rarely drive it. It's a shame to have it sit around.

It is a Black V with dark grey leather seats, Nav w/ Bluetooth, 17 inch wheels, LED headlights, floor mats, you know the deal.

    It still has free XM!

I purchased the car in PA 2.5 months ago. It is in pristine shape.
Odometer is at 6,000, slowly rising.

Sticker was a hair over $30,000 - what do you think I could get for it?

Is it worth it? And If the answer is yes - where do I begin?

    PICS

Why do you want to sell it?

    What else would you get?

I am trading in a 09 XLE v6 camry with 6k on it for a white V w/AT that is how much I love the 2010 Prius and my wife has a Prius 2010 IV now.

    Good luck

If you don't use it then yes you should sell. Unfortunately, just driving off the dealer lot dropped the sale price, but who knows, maybe a pristine Prius won't suffer in the resale department. Good luck.

You’re telling us that you put 6K miles in a little over 2 months and you rarely drive it? (6K miles is half of what insurance companies consider a standard 1-year mileage)

He bought it in PA and moved to San Francisco ... one cross country trip would easily be 2,000 of those 6,000 miles. When life changes, adjust.

Regardless, it is likely to be a 'seller's market.' I would scan the completed sales prices for Prius on Ebay and offer it for an appropriate value. But if you are not in a hurry, watch the hurricanes around the Gulf coast. If one shuts down production in September or October, you will be in the 'cat bird seat.'

I known, but what really matters is what the odometer says, and it says 6K miles for a 2 month-old-car... a lot!

BUT, I agree regarding the “sellers marketâ€. The 2010 Prius is in such high demand, especially the one in question because package V is even more difficult to find, so with a little bit of patience, BooShine can manage to have a much smaller than average financial loss on it. The only other negative factor I see is the color... I think black is the least popular...

That's hard to say. Black might have the lowest numbers on the road, but Toyota doesn't make many black ones. For the Gen II, silver was the hands down winner, but once again there is was a chicken and the egg effect. Silver was deemed a popular color, so silver Prius were made in large numbers. I know people who drive silver Prius simply because that's all they could get. Black may sell well because it is hard to get. Who knows without hard marketing data.

Exactly! I know the production for black is lower compared, for instance, to the Pearl (the most beautiful and popular :)), but the demand for black on the 2010 (based on other people’s experiences and what my local dealers are saying), appear to be disproportional lower than production. For a while here, all I could get was a black one...

Shoot! I thought Cyberman silver would be the most popular along with Tardis blue (although the first Dr. Who episodes were black and white so the gray could have been silver.)

Put it up on craigslist.com and/or eBay ASAP (while dealer inventories are still low) and you may even break even.

I think you have to take into consideration that he bought it in PA and now resides in San Francisco...That put some hefty miles on it quickly.....

    Thanks for the advice everyone.
And yes, bwilson4web is correct- I purchased the car in PA and (after the break in period of course) drove the vehicle to California.
My previous vehicle would not have made it and (though this is OT) the drive was AMAZING in the Prius.

The long and short of why I'm selling the car is simply my lack of need. I'm in the middle of the city- parking is horrible, garages are expensive, I don't want to risk leaving it on the street, and I just don't drive it enough to warrant a 2-300 dollar a month parking spot.

Meanwhile, I've listed it on craigslist an in the market section of PriusChat. Anyone interested?

The way sellers on E-bay work these days put it there with a reserve of 35K. Just about everything on E-Bay is more expensive the a normal online store these days
