    Hello group,
I have an 02 Prius with factory nav. My unit is bad and I am looking to see what units or part #s interchange with mine if any. I have the Denso unit #86841-33060. I have been looking around and havent found anything yet. I called my local dealer(DOH!!) and they told I had to replace with exact same model. I find this hard to believe. If anyone knows of ones that will fit let me know

    Thanx
    Dave Staver

I check it and I found out the 2002-2004 Land cruiser and 2003-2005 4Runner are using the same part number for the navigation, so I assume that it will work for the prius.

This is one gps computer for land cruiser on ebay now: eBay Motors: TOYOTA LAND CRUISER NAVIGATION NAV GPS DVD COMPUTER (item 250364221071 end time Mar-28-09 12:37:40 PDT)

For the dealer's suggestion, I think they are wrong. For my 01 prius, I should use the previous generation GPS computer with part # 86841 5001 (I think it is a toyota first gen gps computer). But I got one with the parts number that same as the 02-03 prius (which is the 2nd gen toyota gps computer) and it work fine with my 01.

Is there somewhere on the forum site has the generation of nav units. I have found some other units that look like mine, but I dont know what would work in my car.86841-47020 is 1 I have found but it is from an 01 lexus sc430. Would this possibly work or is it to old of a unit.

It might work since one of the part number are match, but the part number you have is taiwan spec.

The part is available from the dealer. They have to order it 2-3 weeks (new only) at $5600 + install labor

Wow. I wonder what they'd take for it. No way anyone will buy even one of those, I'd imagine.

Look on Craigslist or Kijiji or ebay. Do not buy from the dealer as they are refurbished units anyway, and at that price its way too much. I know, that is exactly what Toyota told me. I got mine on ebay for $400!!!

The 47020 unit will serve as an adequate replacement, and was a US model unit (it still uses Canadian maps, I can show you pictures of my 47020) in my 2002 Prius if you like!

Oh and here is a list of vehicles that will apply to your vehicle
    2001-2003 Lexus LS430
    2001-2003 Lexus GS400
    2001-2003 Lexus SC430
    2001-2003 Lexus IS300
    2001-2003 Lexus RX300
    2001-2003 Lexus LX470

    2001-2003 Toyota 4 Runner
    2001-2003 Toyota Landcruiser
    2001-2003 Toyota Prius

Just look for any Generation 2 or 3 navigation system, both will work just fine in your Prius!

    Hello again,
    My new line of questioning:
Can I put in a newer unit from a gen4 or 5. I have noticed a few newer units on ebay for about the same $$$. I always like newer if I can do it. The unit I am looking at is # 86841-50090

    Thanx again,
    Dave Staver

Just an FYI, Audio & Video Service Stop repaired our malfunctioning Denso nav ecu unit for a 2001 Land Cruiser. Audio & Video Service Stop was able to perform whatever fix they did for about $400 with shipping. Might could check with them - seem to know a thing or two about Denso.

This board didn't approve of my trying to put in a link; i'm trying to point to videoservicestop dot com

I aldo have a problem with my Navigation system (it came factory installed with my Camry 2002) and I know what is wrong with it. I am therefore looking for a none operational unit for sale that has what I need. If you know what is wrong whith your unit and are willing to sell your unit, I must first need to know what is wrong with it before we even attempt to reach a ($) price. Thank you.

I have a generation 3 nav unit that has a toasted motherboard relay according to Denso, dvd drive is in perfect condition, dvd door switch, face plate, connectors and everything else in mint condition. I can send pics of everything if you are interested. I bought it on ebay, and it was broken when it arrived, I was furious because it was a dead beat ebayer. I even paid to have Denso diagnose the issue, and they said the relay was not repairable. They replaced the battery for me, but that did not work, and they did a pretty bad job too! Anyway, let me know if you are interested, and I know that we can come to a mutually agreeable price.

I just saw your posting tonight. I still have not gotten my unit fixed. My issue is with the dvd drive itself. I have contacted a company in china that has offered me a drive for 106 US $$$. I am a little leary about sending money via Western union to a company overseas that has some English translation issues when they responded to my emails. If you still have the unit, I might be interested. Let me know
