umm.. not sure if it's only my vehicle but the steering wheel and driver's seat aren't perfectly aligned.

It appears that the driver's seat is to the right of the steering wheel (so if you're sitting down, the steering wheel is slightly to your left). It's quite subtle. Hope it wasn't because my seat was mounted improperly lol.

Mine too - so don't sweat it. I noticed it driving home from the dealer after delivery. Right - very subtle. Off just enough to be noticeable.

I wasn't going to mention it here to alert others of it, and cause angst. But Tidey ... you did it.

Watch now - Toyota will need to release a TSB to move the steering assembly 5/8" to the right on every delivered '10.
    Big Mouth... :frusty:

If you use your fob to try and lock the car when one of the doors is still open, not only does it not lock anything, but it gives you a nice long beep (sort of a "hey, dummy" thing :)). Yes, I did manage to test this out this morning. :D

When you disconnect the battery and accidently let the hatch close you will need to find it. Of course when you crawl in there you could just connect the battery again.

Yes, I think so. There's also another annoying feature on some other cars -- the rear windows only roll down half way. I think that is also supposed to be about safety - so that kids couldn't fall out or something.

So, does it mean that the Prius is unsafe for small kids?

I think the reason is even more simple: The shape of the rear doors on some cars can't allow the windows to fully open. Two solutions then: 1. you add a small fixed window to the rear of the rear door, allowing the rest of the window to fit inside the door when opened; 2. you reshape the door to fully fit the open window. Prius use a mix of both.

You're probably right -- but the ones that haven't figured it out or won't spend the money needed to make the adjustments have touted the half-open window as a safety feature!

Going to have to ask - what was the ambient temperature outside and what was the A/C set to? I tried this twice with A/C set to 78F and outside temp at 89-91F. The engine does not start no matter how long I hold the A/C button.

Stamped into the plastic wall of the "bottle Holder" in each front door is a picture of a bottle! Next to it is a picture of a cup with a line through it.

Do I need Toyota's permission to put something else in there? There is no picture of a hand grenade with a line through it, so would that be OK?

The car was not specifically designed for the US and people outside the USA don't usually keep hand grenades in their car (not that I deny your constitutional rights!). ;)

I'm sure this has been posted and I missed it, but the speedometer display is actually a reflection. The actual display is in the dash itself and what you see is a reflection of that. I assume so you can have the neat holographic looking displays overlayed on top?

That would probably explain the double image issue discussed before.

Have you noticed (minor observation)? If you look at the passenger front window the writing on the window corner can be read correctly. If you look (from the inside of the car) the drivers side would be reversed. Thus if you were standing outside of the car on the drivers side both windows woul read correctly from that view. Just seemed weird in the manufacturing process that this would not have been the same (that is read correctly from the outside for both sides or the inside for both sides).

If kids are wearing their seat belts, there's no chance that this would be a safety issue. Just am opportunitiy for auto makers to tout a good reason for cheaper manufacturing

And if you're in cruise mode at 25 you can't go into EV.

The reason windows in the back seat of other cars only roll down half way is because they can't roll down fully, the shape of the door because of the rear wheel placement prevents it.

This thread needs to be summarized and re started. I made it through 14 pages before I gave up checking to see if this was already posted.

I found the best way to save gas is to drive with the ‘Hybrid System Indicator’ display on. If you are on a different screen and want to get to the ‘Hybrid System Indicator’ display fast you can press the ECO Mode button twice. If you are not already in ECO Mode you can press it once to get to the screen. I am in ECO Mode 100% of the time.
