Incorrect..it is NOT just "visible, in Ohio it must be visible 300 feet to the rear. As law enforcement, I stop and warn people who drive at night with typical "covers" over their rear lights.

Just my .02. What's wrong with good old fashioned red and amber lights? I don't know why Toyota went for the bling look on the '06. I would really have preferred something less obnoxious. Like red and amber. Your mileage and sense of style may vary.

Nothing wrong for an Asian (me), but isn't that Americans like red and red (instead of amber) lights? Even Japanese cars (specifically, Honda) start to use red and red in U.S. market.

I like red and amber a lot!

Yes, I much prefer the 04-05 taillights (that's my car in the pic, halfway through the conversion), which is why I bought 04-05 taillights on Ebay and swapped them onto my 06. Anyone can do this, and it's not that expensive if you wait for a good price - I've bought 4 04-05 taillights on Ebay, and one cost $20, one cost $35, and the other 2 cost around $70-80. I bought "extras" as 3 of the 4 were scratched up and I was trying to get "perfect" ones, but after receiving a particularly badly scratched one, I bought some 2000, 1000, and 600 grit sandpaper, along with some rouge paper, and sanded them down, finishing with a polishing compound made of vinegar and cream of tartar. I ended up working over all 3 scratched ones, and you can't tell they were ever scratched.

I can't stand amber on rear lights, as amber is used for front turn signals, so both my Prius have red replacement bulbs in the taillights.

In Florida alot of people have their headlights & taillights tinted, This is against the law and you can be ticketed for it.. However most officers don't pull you over just for that it becomes an additional charge/ ticket.

I'm in the process of testing the smoke film for the tailights. Bought a small piece of 92% light transmission (8% darkening) along with the carbon fiber film for the front/rear emblems which are completed. I tried one of the smoke film pieces on the right rear side reflector lens - first pic. 2nd pic is standard.

Not sure if it's worth the effort as the tailights have the concave curve. The film does allow for some curving, but would need to be two pieces - one side as I have done and the rear. During my test, the light transmission is just fine - does not mask out too much (thus probably no "law" issues.

I'm not a fan of the white/chrome large '10 lights, esp against a darker car color. Still contemplating if I should do it. Yea / Nay???

Dean, I agree with you. I recommend smoking them a little more. You can barely tell the difference in those pics.

I'm trying to grow the nerve to paint my taillights all red. What I was thinking of doing is adding a little red paint to clear coat and do the whole tail. Still deciding on that.

    Bino,
I totally loved your tail lights, so I copied yours!
    Red/Light Smoke/Red. I'll do the 3rd light next.
    Thanks for the tip!
