    I use Firefox 3.5.2 on Mac OS X 10.5

PriusChat is by far the slowest site on all page loads. Most of the time it takes many seconds for a page draw or link. There are times when I just don't think it will load and I move on to somewhere else.

It is very frustrating when interested or participating in a thread - this is not a minor slowness - it can take 10 secs or more at times just to load from a clicked link.

It must be your connection/software/hardware combination.

Both at home & work, full thread pages only take about 3 seconds to load for me.

I second John's comment that it seems zippy to me. Priuschat has had its speed issues through the years, but it's been solid and fast for a while now.

(FYI, this is running Firefox on Windows XP, Linux, and MacOSX 10.5)

I use IE8 and by opening each page I want to look at in tabs I breeze through PriusChat.

    I use FireFox-64 3.0.13 (came with Fedora 10) and I see no slow-down issue.
Actually, it is faster than the IE8 I have at home.
With my slow DSL (1.3Mbps average), it takes about 4 seconds to load the entire home page.

    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.13)
    Gecko/2009080317 Fedora/3.0.13-1.fc10 Firefox/3.0.13

Do you use a router? Belkin replaced mine multiple times several months ago under warranty, and all of their recent models stall repeatedly in my setup. The older model, now unavailable, never did this (it did hang every few weeks or months requiring a reset; if I had known what I was getting into I would have kept it). There were no changes in ISP (AT&T) or OS (Mac 10.3.9).

Must just be those of us with Macs. I use Safari, and this site is often slow to load. Even with Snow Leopard it still hangs sometimes.

I've had no problems with my Mac and Firefox.

A quick (slightly off-topic) question: why do folks use Safari? Is there some advantage over Firefox that I'm not aware of? Every time I've used Safari, I've run into problems, whereas I've never had those problems with Firefox.

I have the same configuration. Are you using AdBlock Plus? Make sure you do. Anytime I have problems with this site its ALWAYS the slowness of the ad servers.

Because it's there. Until the 4.0 release Safari's been usually quite speedy, and I've had little or no other issues with it.

I started using Firefox on my Macs at home when viewing PC, because Safari just seems to hang sometimes when trying to go back and forth between posts. The only way out of the loop is to wait several minutes, quit, or go to another webstie and come back.

As to why I prefer safari - it's fast and works fine everywhere else, has a minimalist design, and when you click on the back arrow, it gives your entire history, so you can quickly go back 2 or 3 steps. It doesn't seem near that easy on any other browser. It also correctly unbolds the threads you've already visited when you back up to the view new posts search. In firefox, you have to go back and press reload.

I use different browsers and OS all the time, and I don't see any real difference there. What is different is the speed throughout the day - 10pm PST seems to be the magic hour when PC slows to a crawl.

I am no computer geek and have nothing souped up but it rarely takes more than 2-3 seconds for pages to pop.

While you are waiting for a page load, look in the status bar at the bottom and see what is being accessed. Recently some of the advertising software has been hanging up, most notably ad.doubleclick.net. If it's waiting for that, hitting reload will usually move things along.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.2 in OS X 10.5.8. I have not had speed issues lately. However, I travel to places where the internet connection is slow (satellite "broadband," which is really only slightly better than dialup; or hotels with insufficient bandwidth for the number of people on the system) and then PC is generally the slowest site I visit. (Using my Asus EEE PC running Linux and Firefox.) Trying to post photos is so frustrating that I mostly wait until I'm home. PC seems to have a lot of stuff on its pages, very noticeable on a slow connection, though not a problem on a fast broadband connection.

There are a few sites that do not render correctly on Firefox. Maybe it's because I have the default font size set large enough to actually read? For those sites I have to use Safari. On the vanguard site, most pages render fine in Firefox, but certain pages have all the content squeezed into the right-most half inch of screen, with most of the screen blank. Safari renders these pages correctly.

I will look into that. Now that you mention that, it always hangs on the first horizontal google ad box..... hmmmm.
